Recently, a large number of Amazon sellers’ brands have been removed due to being judged as brand “abuse”. In almost every seller group, there are sellers who have mentioned that their stores have been judged as brand abuse by Amazon and have had their brands removed.


Many sellers received official emails from Amazon, which roughly stated that the brand was suspected of being involved in abuse and was deleted. Sellers were confused when they saw the emails. How could they suddenly be identified as abuse?



Brands were removed from the platforms in large numbers, and some sellers even had multiple brands deleted at the same time. So why do similar problems occur?


Why are there so many of them now, and why are brands disappearing for no reason?

Amazon explained that the seller’s brand was removed because the platform had started a new round of brand abuse verification, mainly to prove the relationship between the brand owner and the account owner.


Amazon requires brand owners or legally authorized personnel to sell products of a specific brand on the platform, and prohibits others from using other people's brand information without authorization.

The brand removal this time affected a wide range of people, and many old brands were also affected. After the brand was removed, many sellers' products can still be sold normally, but the brand-related functions cannot be used normally, and new products cannot be launched temporarily.


However, some merchants responded that the reason why a large number of brands were removed this time seemed to have a lot to do with the lawyers who were blacklisted by the platform.


What actions by sellers will lead to brand abuse?


  1. The backend store performance issues were not handled in a timely manner , or there were violations in the performance of other stores related to the brand that were not handled, such as infringement, false orders, etc.


  2. Having reported and complained about others many times before but with a low success rate , or frequently complaining about others but with a low success rate will be considered an abuse of Amazon's brand services.


  3. There are problems with the trademark or brand name . Have you ever purchased a brand from a service provider and checked whether it has been registered or revoked?


  4. Blacklisted lawyers and brand agent lawyers who are blacklisted by the platform for some reason, or lawyers who violate the rules due to certain circumstances, will cause the brand to be judged as abusing.



"Recently, failed complaints can easily lead to abuse. I suspect that after the complaint was successful, it was found that the lawyer had a problem, but other stores with the same lawyer were fine. The account manager suggested finding an official firm to register the brand. Many lawyers cannot be found to have violated the rules outside, and Amazon has its own list of violating lawyers. "


"I have several trademarks that have been registered for four or five years and are still in use. I have never violated any rules. Amazon told me that there was a problem with the trademark registration lawyer and removed my trademark. This is ridiculous. The US Trademark Office has not rejected my trademark yet . Why should Amazon reject it? Do I have to use the lawyers that cooperate with their official accelerator?"


Generally speaking, although the Amazon platform will not provide specific reasons, after analysis, the sellers find that they do not have the problems mentioned by the platform, and the store has no violations. Could it be that the lawyer list is really changed?


Professionals have confirmed this speculation that the large-scale removal of brands was due to the platform adding lawyers to the blacklist, which led to the incident.


In response to this, sellers said that blacklisted lawyers are not public data on the Amazon platform, so even if they change themselves, they don’t know whether they will violate the rules again. There is still no good solution at present.


How should I appeal if my brand is revoked?


  1. Check the email (it is best to open another case to confirm the materials to be submitted quickly), follow the email and case response to file an appeal as soon as possible.

  2. Submit production license certificate/purchase invoice/trademark purchase invoice and other information materials to prove the relationship between the brand owner and the account owner.

  3. Make sure your information is complete before filing an appeal . You only have one chance to file an appeal, so try your best to make it successful in one go.


After the complaint, most sellers are currently complaining about Amazon’s handling speed for the brand’s violations, many of which are calculated in months. The time and money wasted by sellers in this regard are incalculable. It is best to be fully prepared and pass it in one go.

In general, the more brand usage records you have, the easier it is to successfully appeal. Actively communicate with the Amazon team and supplement the required materials as instructed.


Now that Amazon has fully entered the era of compliance, the method of taking advantage of loopholes has become increasingly unfeasible. The platform is working with sellers to make improvements, hoping that sellers can focus more on products and supply chains, strengthen control over the upstream of the supply chain, compete fairly, and achieve win-win cooperation.
