Amazon has come up with a new trick! Remove all protective equipment except those on the whitelist! Will unregistered mask listings be in trouble?

Yesterday afternoon, such a piece of news was widely circulated in the cross-border e-commerce circle of friends:

The main content of this message is as follows:

All sellers selling epidemic-related products need to be qualified

Sellers can ask the investment manager to issue a whitelist (provided they are qualified)

Unqualified sellers need to remove the relevant listings within 1 day

If you don't remove it, your account will be suspended and no appeal will be given

Amazon's investment manager claimed that if the relevant product listings are not removed within the specified time, he will package the seller's store information and send it to the review team for processing .

Please note that the above message focuses on the issue of qualifications , and this qualification refers to the qualifications of the company or factory that the seller fills in to register the Amazon account, not the qualifications of the epidemic prevention materials imported by the seller.

This means that even if the masks you sell have all the necessary qualifications such as FDA and CE, but your account is not qualified to sell them, you still have to remove them from the shelves, otherwise your account will be blocked.

As soon as the news came out, many sellers thought that the news was fake. How could they remove all the products from the shelves? However, some sellers said that they received a notification from Amazon in the background, as shown in the following picture↓

In response to this, some unqualified sellers have removed related products from their shelves, causing panic among many sellers.

Logically speaking, the seller is saving the world by selling masks to foreigners where the epidemic is rampant at this time. Why did the investment manager suddenly do this? What on earth is he trying to do?

In fact, the meaning is quite obvious, that is, they want to eliminate the middleman and directly encourage factories to provide epidemic prevention materials to Amazon. As we all know, Amazon sellers are rarely qualified manufacturers that specialize in producing epidemic prevention materials, so, to put it bluntly, this news is to prevent you from selling . If the news is true, then a large number of sellers of masks, hand sanitizers, etc. will be out of business. The specific products involved are as follows:

Masks

N95 mask (N-95)

Hand sanitizer

Respirator

Thermometers

Sanitizing wipes

Protective clothing (isolation gowns)

Face shields

Gloves, shoe covers

Biohazard shields

Tyvek sleeves

Plastic aprons

Cooling vest

It should be noted that the news has not been confirmed yet , and it is not clear whether it is true or false. It may also be fabricated by the service provider to cut leeks. Regardless of whether it is true or false , sellers should still be careful and temporarily remove the link to be on the safe side .

In addition, some sellers consulted customer service and received the following response:

In order to better help buyers choose products during the COVID-19 epidemic, the platform limits the creation of new product listings for personal safety and household products. To apply for new product listings, please send the following information to the relevant email address:

  • The products you want to sell (include all product names and brand names)

  • Seller Name and Number

  • Company Name

  • Company Introduction

  • E-commerce store or company website

  • Contact information (telephone number and email address)

  • Are you a brand owner?

  • Are you a certified manufacturer? (For example, if you sell N95 masks in the United States, are you on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's list of approved manufacturers?)

  • Are you an authorized reseller? (If yes, proof of purchase from the brand owner or certified manufacturer is required)

  • Are there other major retailers that carry your product? (If yes, please list the specific retailers)

  • When applying to sell an existing product, you will need to provide some or all of the following information:

  • At least one purchase invoice for the goods purchased from the manufacturer or distributor should be provided;

  • Images of the product or its packaging;

  • Agree to Amazon's fair pricing policy.

In other words, to create new personal safety and household products , you need to send the above information to Amazon to apply.

However, it has not yet been confirmed whether the epidemic prevention products that are not included in Amazon’s whitelist will actually be removed from the shelves.

However, after experiencing various changes in Amazon's policies related to epidemic prevention products during this period, sellers should all know that Amazon has always been very strict in its control over epidemic prevention products. Coupled with Amazon's style of settling accounts after the event, it is not impossible for Amazon to remove unqualified products in the future.

In order to help you solve your doubts, the editor found Amazon’s latest policy on the whitelist of epidemic prevention items for your reference!

6. Important tips for all sellers who have passed the COVID19 epidemic prevention supplies sales/listing review

If a seller who has passed the COVID19 epidemic prevention supplies sales/listing review creates a new ASIN, the system rules will automatically delete the ASIN after creation. This is due to the technical design of the restricted product rule engine. The account manager will proactively communicate this rule with the seller to let the seller know that the new COVID19 ASIN will be deleted and the seller does not need to take any action. Amazon will restore these deleted ASINs to the shelves within 24-48 hours.
