It’s terrifying to think that even big sellers who do Amazon reviews have encountered this scam!

We all know that there are three main problems to solve when doing business on Amazon: product selection, traffic, and conversion rate . The reviews of listings will directly or indirectly affect traffic and conversion rate, and we are constantly looking for ways to conduct reviews.

Today, I will continue to talk about reviews with you. One of the sellers in our seller group shared his experience of being deceived. It was a scam that his own store encountered during the review process. It is terrifying to think about it carefully. Now I share this story in the hope that it will be useful to everyone and avoid innocent accounts being implicated.

There is a seller named Zhang in the editor group. For convenience, I will call him Mr. Zhang from now on.

Recently, when Mr. Zhang's store was looking for Chinese buyers to give him free reviews, he found that there were problems with several of the order screenshots the buyers gave him.

When I first saw this screenshot, I was confused and didn't know what was wrong. Mr. Zhang said that he used to be a designer so he was more sensitive. The Order total column in the order screenshot was wrong and looked like a photoshopped picture.

After investigation, it was found that these buyers placed orders using gift cards. In order to trick Mr. Zhang into returning the money to them normally, they photoshopped the payment interface of the gift card to make it look like a normal credit card payment.

Mr. Zhang also exposed the screenshots of his chat records with these buyers:

Sellers who have done reviews should know that they generally do not accept gift cards from buyers when they find buyers themselves. The main reasons are:

Many times, when products require reviews, buyers who pay with gift cards cannot help you get the product reviewed properly;

The weight of the gift card order listing cannot be increased.

These are the two core factors . In fact, there is another very serious problem:

If the gift card is not obtained through legitimate means, not only will the buyer's account be destroyed, but our seller account will also be implicated, and it is very easy to be found to be manipulating reviews or rankings. In serious cases, the account may be blocked.

Mr. Zhang said: "I found that buyers not only want to earn commissions for swiping reviews, but also want to make money from the price difference. The price difference here refers to low-priced gift cards purchased through special channels. For example, a $100 gift card theoretically costs about 700 yuan, but they have a way to buy it in bulk at a low price of 400-500 yuan. In this way, they can make an extra 200-300 yuan for every $100 spent."

Mr. Zhang became more and more scared the more he thought about it. "Later, I found out that the reason why there are so many buyers of this kind is that this situation has quietly formed a supply chain! The situation is like this. Some people package this as a money-making project. They provide mobile phones and buyer accounts for rent. It costs about 1,000 yuan to rent. They give you a few old buyer accounts and introduce you to low-priced gift card channels. Then the buyer uses this account to pretend to be a Chinese American buyer, and then helps sellers to make money by brushing orders."

Mr. Zhang shared his experience of being deceived this time in the hope that other sellers who have evaluation needs will be careful to avoid encountering this kind of "buyers", otherwise the sellers themselves will be hurt. Of course, these buyers who rent accounts and use gift cards should also be mentally prepared. As mentioned earlier, most sellers will not accept this method, and will not refund once they find out. This situation will not last long.

Through this incident, the editor feels that we need to be more cautious when placing orders, and state in advance that we do not accept gift card orders. Once we find out, we should not refund him the money.

In addition, we usually refund after receiving the goods, and buyers usually provide screenshots of the delivery information as evidence. In fact, we can distinguish buyers who are not local with one trick. As long as we insist on asking buyers to take a photo for you after receiving the goods, if the buyer can provide it normally, it can be basically confirmed that he is actually in the local area, and not a buyer in China who uses a US IP to place a virtual order. In addition, whether to use PayPal to receive payments, we can also eliminate most of the fraudulent buyers by reviewing these items.

I have emphasized many times that the most convenient, efficient and safe way to get reviews is to find real people to do the reviews. However, many review service providers in the market are full of fakes and their fraudulent methods make it difficult for sellers to guard against them.

The most common situations are: there is no transaction guarantee, no result guarantee, no after-sales service, and the service provider disappears without a trace after receiving the money, leaving the sellers with nowhere to turn.

In serious cases, if you inadvertently choose an unsecured review platform, there is a danger of your store being closed!
