Cross-border remittance

How to use AlipayHK

1. The first step is to find a Hong Kong mobile phone number that has not been registered with AlipayHK

Method 1: Yibotong WeChat Official Account

This is a mobile phone number operator in Hong Kong. They will recycle various mobile phone numbers and then re-issue them for use.

Advantages: Cheap (HKD 68 per year); Convenient (no card required, verification code will be sent to WeChat official account)

Disadvantages: Your mobile phone number can be easily frozen after registration (if registered, you cannot unbind and activate it even if you call customer service). After the number expires, it will be sent to other people, who may use your AlipayHK.

Note: If you choose this method, it is best to call customer service (0085222453201) to ask whether the number is registered when E-Broadcom selects the number for you.

Method 2: Buy a card from Taobao

Taobao cards are the most reliable and safe for personal use.

Advantages: safe, all are new accounts, no registration risk.

Disadvantages: The card costs 48, and the monthly rent is 2.5. However, after the expiration date, you need to recharge 50 Hong Kong dollars every six months. If you hold it for a long time, the cost is higher. You need to install the card to receive the verification code, which is a bit troublesome.

This method is recommended: the main consideration is security, the number will only be used by you. It will not be stolen by others. Secondly, when the wool of AlipayHK is gone, we may not renew the card. There is no long-term holding cost. The first payment only needs 48, which is cheaper than E-Broadcom.

Development History

In 2007, Alipay began to serve the Hong Kong market.

In August 2016, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority issued third-party payment licenses, and Alipay Hong Kong became one of the first payment license recipients, allowing it to provide digital financial services to local users.

On May 24, 2017, Alipay HK was officially launched.

As of March 8, 2018, the Hong Kong version of Alipay (Alipay HK) has more than 1 million users in Hong Kong and more than 10,000 partner merchants.

On June 25, 2018, the world's first blockchain-based e-wallet cross-border remittance service was launched in Hong Kong.

On January 20, 2020, Hong Kong users only need to open AlipayHK, the Hong Kong version of "Alipay", to pay in Hong Kong dollars with their mobile phones to take public transportation in Guangzhou. Currently, scanning the QR code to take the Guangzhou Metro is not supported.

On February 27, 2020, cross-border electronic payment services between Hong Kong and Macao were officially launched.
