In the past two days, many sellers have found that the maximum inventory level on Amazon has been reduced and the quantity of shipments has been limited. Previously, they could ship 3 months of goods, but now they can only ship 1 month of goods. They were looking forward to more inventory capacity, but the more they looked forward to it, the less they saw. Amazon's inventory restriction plan has become more stringent.

Sellers who did not make money on Black Friday and Cyber ​​Monday may be thinking that it is still December, the year-end peak season, so they may try again and turn the tables.

But what no one expected was that at this juncture, news broke that Amazon’s US inventory plan would begin to be restricted again .



A seller told the editor: "Yesterday, we could still ship more than 300 items, but today it has dropped to zero. The maximum inventory seems to have become one month's supply, which was three months before. In other words, it is very likely that we can only ship one month's supply now, and some may even be less than that."


Some sellers’ available shipment quantities were directly reduced to zero, while some were reduced by more than half.



Some sellers are helpless: "It's almost the Chinese New Year, and we are still counting on the available shipments to hold on. Last year, we survived the difficult period of the epidemic and shipment restrictions because we prepared enough goods until April in advance. If there are restrictions now, I estimate that the entire December and the Chinese New Year period will be cold.

If these sellers also have a European UK site, they will have to face the VAT issue, which is really too difficult!


Because, from January 1 next year, the tax-free benefits for goods priced below £15 shipped from outside the UK to British consumers will be cancelled. The days of free shipping for 9.9 yuan are gone forever.

In fact, as the maximum inventory capacity has been decreasing during this period, many sellers are now completely out of stock . If the current situation continues, more and more sellers will face the risk of out of stock in the future.


In this regard, a seller opened a case to consult customer service, and the customer service said that it might be affected by the " Amazon Logistics Sales Date " policy, and it would take until December 17 to observe the details. This policy was released in November, and Black Friday and Cyber ​​Monday have passed. Now there are two very important time points left:


Inventory for the Christmas shopping period should arrive at Amazon fulfillment centers by December 1, 2020.


2021 inventory should arrive at Amazon fulfillment centers no earlier than December 17, 2020. Until then, only ship to Amazon items that will sell in 2020.

Inventory is king in the next ten days


According to industry insiders, this situation may only be short-lived, because the current situation is mainly processing Christmas shipments delivered to Amazon warehouses before December 1. Only after Christmas will the restrictions on receiving goods be lifted . Otherwise, the large amount of inventory piled up in the warehouse will not be able to be operated at all.

The next ten days or so will be the peak shopping period for Christmas on the Amazon platform. Traffic will be considerable and inventory will become a weapon for explosive sales. Sellers are advised to adjust prices in a timely manner to ensure a continuous supply of goods.

However, for many sellers, the current situation is that although the meat in front of them is tempting, they have no choice but to give up because the inventory has reached the bottom.

Seller B: My products are completely out of stock, so I’ll just leave it to fate. You guys go make the money from the rich.


Seller C: I was happy for just one day, but today everything is out of stock.


Seller D: It has been two weeks since I signed for LAX9, and none of the items have been put on the shelves. A large number of them are out of stock.

Amazon has stepped up its crackdown on forcibly breaking delivery restrictions, and sellers now basically dare not violate the rules.

But now, due to the sudden reduction in Amazon's storage capacity, many sellers replenished their original inventory. As a result, the number of inventory available for shipment decreased, and they were judged to have exceeded the shipment quantity. Ultimately, the goods were forcibly cancelled during transportation.

An Amazon seller said: "Originally, there was a product with a limited quantity of more than 5,000. I shipped just over 5,000. After a few days of sales, there were more than 700 shipments ready for sea shipment. During the transportation process, the inventory limit became more than 3,000, and the inventory exceeded 2,000. Some sellers said that they asked customer service and they were told that the canceled shipments could still be received later, but the receiving process was very slow. However, they contacted the foreign team and they were told that the carrier could not guarantee that the shipment would be accepted.
