India: "The goods have arrived, but the consignee is gone."
India reported 18,376,524 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on the 29th, setting a new record for the number of newly confirmed cases in a single day for the eighth consecutive day. It is also the highest record for newly confirmed cases in a single day in a single country in the world.

Industry insiders said that they should be cautious about accepting Indian goods in the near future:

The goods arrived, but the consignee unfortunately passed away.

India's epidemic out of control

Oxygen is hard to come by, bodies are burned in the streets...

The "explosive" growth in new cases has put India's medical system under tremendous pressure.

Long queues formed in front of the hospital, and there were no beds or oxygen anywhere. The patients' families could only find ways to save their loved ones on their own, and some tried to buy oxygen cylinders on the black market.

The continued surge in the number of deaths has put India's funeral industry on the verge of collapse. Due to insufficient cremation capacity, Indian people have to set up temporary cremation sites in parks and other places to deal with the bodies of patients who died of COVID-19.

At the same time, incidents of improper handling of the bodies of COVID-19 victims have also attracted people's attention.

On the 24th local time, Indian TV reporter Govind Gurjar reported two local incidents of improper handling of the bodies of COVID-19 victims.

The incident occurred in Madhya Pradesh. A photo released by the reporter showed the body of a COVID-19 victim lying on the roadside, with a dog eating the body nearby. The scene was horrifying.

Another incident also occurred in Madhya Pradesh, where an ambulance transferred the body of a COVID-19 victim without notifying the family. However, the body was accidentally thrown out during transportation and left on the roadside.

Some netizens described this as an "unimaginable tragedy."

The Indian government predicts that this round of epidemic may reach its peak in mid-May

On the 25th, the Indian central government convened the chief ministers of states with severe epidemics to discuss countermeasures.

At the meeting, the relevant person in charge Vinod Paul predicted the epidemic situation: by the end of this month, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and New Delhi will become the areas with the fastest increase in cases.

It is estimated that by mid-May when this round of epidemic reaches its peak, the number of newly confirmed cases in India will reach 500,000 per day.

Paul warned that "densely populated states will face 'special risks' and their health infrastructure will be insufficient to cope with severe epidemics."

The Indian government estimates that New Delhi will have a "gap" of 16,061 oxygen-equipped hospital beds, about 2,877 intensive care beds and 1,450 ventilators every day;

Uttar Pradesh will have a "gap" of about 16,752 hospital beds equipped with oxygen equipment, about 3,061 intensive care beds and 1,538 ventilators every day.

The capital New Delhi's "lockdown" was extended for one week

Earlier, the Indian capital New Delhi had decided to "lock down" the city from 10 pm on April 19 to 5 am on April 26.

On the 25th, New Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal announced that the city-wide lockdown would be extended for one week until 5 a.m. on May 3.

During this period, people are not allowed to go out except for necessary activities such as purchasing daily necessities and seeking medical treatment; restaurants can only provide take-out; shopping malls, spas, gyms, amusement parks and other places remain closed.

As the epidemic in India continues to worsen, it has caused concern in many countries.

Iran, Britain, Canada, Singapore and other countries have successively introduced entry restrictions on Indian travelers.

Sichuan Airlines issued a notice today to suspend the acceptance of cargo on Indian routes

" In the face of the sudden changes in the epidemic, in order to reduce the number of imported cases from abroad, we have decided to reroute our cargo planes from Xi'an to Delhi (3U8227), Xi'an to Mumbai (3U8385),

Chengdu-Chennai (3U8299), Chongqing-Mumbai (3U8779), Chengdu-Bangalore (3U3865) and Chongqing-Delhi (3U3781) flights will suspend cargo acceptance from now until the next 15 days . The subsequent cargo acceptance situation will be subject to the official notification of our company. "
