In the first day of the Shopify store tutorial, we introduced:
Now we start the second day of the store opening tutorial. Today's tutorial will mainly introduce:
Before introducing these two points in detail, let’s do some preparation work for opening a store. It is very simple to open a store on Shopify. You don’t even need to purchase inventory. However, necessary preparations must be made. This is the key to successfully running an e-commerce business. Only by laying a solid foundation can a tall building be built. Before setting up a store, the preparations to be made include: 1. Create a valid US address If you want to enter the US market, you need to set up a valid US address, so that customers can feel more confident buying products in your store. Some foreign service providers provide U.S. street address services, such as Virtualpostmail. They provide valid U.S. addresses and have dedicated personnel responsible for receiving mail and parcels sent to these addresses, and then forwarding them according to the customer's needs, or scanning the letters for customers to view. 2. Create a US phone number Similarly, you also need a valid US phone number. Although most consumers will not make phone calls, you should still be fully prepared. Just like creating a US address, there are also service providers that provide US number services, such as Grasshopper. Sellers in need can try it. 3. Set up payment mode Shopify's common payment methods include Stripe and PayPal, and PayPal is more commonly used in China. Stripe is also easy to operate and has a good set of skills in handling disputes, payments, and data analysis. 4. Set up a Support email address In the first day's tutorial, we introduced how to set up domain mailboxes and forwarding mailboxes. After completing the preparations, let's take a look at the Shopify store settings. First log in to the backend and click "settings", you will see: There are a few settings that require special attention: 1. Account settings Shopify has a free trial. After the trial, set up a monthly payment method in the Billing of Account. 2. Notifications Shopify will provide templates for order and delivery status here, which will be automatically sent to customers. If you need to modify them, you can click " customize". 3. Payment process settings (Checkout) Here you can set whether customers need to create an account before placing an order, what contact information customers need to provide when placing an order, and how customers fill in the delivery address. 4. Sales Channels Here you can set up “Add sales channels”. For example, if you want to add a Facebook account, click “Facebook” and then click “Connect Account” to bind your Facebook homepage. 5. Tax settings (Taxes) This setting is very simple. Just click on " Tax Settings" and select "All taxes are included in my prices". 6. Payment method settings (Payment) Here you can set the payment method, including credit card, PayPal, Stripe, etc. For example, to set up PayPal, click "Express Checkout", then select "Activate", enter the PayPal account to bind. The logo is the image of the store, and a good logo can help customers remember the brand quickly. But it is expensive to hire someone to design a logo, so here we recommend a free design tool - Canva. Log in to the Canva website and click "Create a design". Find the logo design in the recommendations, then choose the logo template you like and select your favorite font and color. Once created, if you are satisfied with your logo design, click “Download”. After completing the Logo design, log in to the Shopify backend, select "Settings", click "Files", upload the downloaded Logo image, edit the appropriate size, and then click Save. After designing the logo, you can also create a display icon, which will appear next to the URL. This icon can also be uploaded to Facebook or Instagram as an avatar. Okay, that’s all for today’s Shopify tutorial. Stay tuned for the next one. *Note: The 30-day Shopify store opening tutorial series from scratch is compiled from https://www.flyingstartonline.com/shopify-basics/.
