Big news! Amazon is once again trying out a new policy, shortening the payment cycle to 3 days!

The direction of Amazon in 2021 is changing rapidly, with skyrocketing costs, declining profits, exchange rate fluctuations, etc. all weighing on the nerves of sellers.

With the strengthening of the platform's rectification efforts, Amazon's development trend is now gradually moving towards refinement and branding, which increasingly tests the sellers' accumulated advantages in supply chain and capital.

For some small and medium-sized sellers who are not well-funded, if they cannot receive payment in time, their capital chain turnover faces considerable pressure. Recently, this situation seems to be expected to improve, as Amazon has finally extended its policy reform to the payment cycle.

Amazon pilots payment plan, shortening payment cycle to 3 days!

It is learned that many sellers have received invitations to Amazon's payment pilot program in recent times, and the payment cycle will be shortened from the previous 14 days to 3 days.

It is reported that starting from December 16, 2021, the sales revenue of all confirmed orders of sellers will take effect three days after the actual shipping date.

For example, if a seller ships an order on January 1 and the actual shipping date is January 5, sales proceeds will be paid starting on January 9. For orders without carrier delivery information, sales proceeds will continue to be held until 7 days after the order's most recent estimated delivery date.

After a seller opened a case for consultation, customer service also confirmed the authenticity of the matter. However, the plan is still in trial operation and only invited stores are eligible to enjoy this policy.

Amazon said that the pilot program was launched to ensure that sellers with good performance can receive their payments faster. In other words, most of the sellers who receive the program meet the following conditions:

  • FBA Sellers
  • Low order defect rate
  • Stable performance
  • Account health is good

However, at the same time, Amazon will reserve the right to adjust the payment interval when abnormal problems occur in the seller's account.

After the policy was piloted, some sellers clearly felt the difference:

"I issued a loan yesterday, 35% more than Amazon expected."
"I found that the deposit amount is obviously a bit more than before, and the withdrawal amount each time is less than half of that."
“The amount of money held back has been reduced a lot.”

Mixed reviews, is shortening the collection period an advantage or a disadvantage?

The payment cycle is shortened to three days, which is beneficial to the turnover of sellers' capital chain to a certain extent and can also manage the supply chain more flexibly. However, due to the fast payment, the market order is likely to be disrupted.

Therefore, sellers have mixed opinions on Amazon's new payment cycle policy.

On the one hand, the shortened payment cycle makes it easier for sellers to return funds. They no longer have to worry about logistics and suppliers' logistics and payment issues, and the frequency of new product launches can be increased . But on the other hand, the market may be damaged by unscrupulous sellers, who may copy the bottom price and sell orders at the first instance, which will increase negative reviews for the links of normal sellers.

A seller with monthly sales of US$80,000 reported that after participating in this plan, he found that the deposit had been greatly reduced in recent days compared to before, while the repayment was much higher, and the funds suddenly became much more abundant.

However, although the reduction in collection period is helpful to ease cash flow pressure, some sellers believe that the extra 11 days of capital turnover are still very important for Amazon sellers, as they can handle various complicated matters. The most urgent and troublesome thing should be logistics fees and payment for goods, which need to be paid in advance before the payment is received.

In addition, many sellers have expressed concerns about this: they predict that the market will be flooded with many low-quality accounts that ship goods themselves, sell goods at super low prices but then do not actually ship them, and then abandon the account and run away after quickly collecting the money.

Therefore, if this policy is to be implemented universally, the ideal situation should be to set appropriate thresholds, such as only sellers with low return rates or reaching a certain sales volume can apply.

Of course, some sellers also speculate that Amazon’s pilot of this policy is likely due to the sluggish market, and it is trying to speed up the pace of market sales by accelerating sellers’ payment collection and increasing the rate of capital circulation .

At present, if the new policy on collection period can be popularized, it will still be more beneficial than harmful for ordinary sellers who operate in compliance with regulations, and the store operation turnover will also be more smooth.

Can I get my money back after my account is blocked in the second instance? Beware of service providers playing the information asymmetry card!

However, while Amazon is trying out the new payment policy, the second review mechanism has also changed recently, and may be completely replaced by video verification. Under the policy changes, a new round of account scanning is also imminent, and some sellers have reported that more than 20 accounts on the US site were blocked overnight.

Many sellers whose accounts have been blocked are extremely anxious: Can these accounts that have been blocked in the second review still receive payments smoothly?

A seller said that many service providers in the industry currently have a second-brush payment recovery business, but this is just a trap set by the service providers using information asymmetry, and the actual probability of a successful appeal cannot be guaranteed.

  The picture comes from Zhiwubuyan

In fact, Amazon generally gives sellers who have made a second purchase an opportunity to apply for a refund after 90 days. The seller submits the information to trigger the application, and then undergoes a video verification of the legal person or supplements other information as required . Whether the refund can be successfully obtained depends mainly on whether the information provided is true and Amazon’s specific review.

There are many service providers in the industry today, and they often charge about 20%-30% information service fees. Some sellers have even paid more than 1 million yuan in IQ tax.

Therefore, if sellers encounter problems with second-instance payment collection or other appeal issues, they can refer to the experience of other sellers to learn and operate on their own. When looking for service providers, they also need to pay attention to careful identification to avoid paying the IQ tax.
