It is reported that both patents belong to Chinese people and were officially approved on January 16, 2024. In the process of selling related products, sellers need to be cautious about potential infringement risks to minimize legal risks.

  1. Pedetid Magnetic Ball Toy Set

On January 19, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) warned consumers to immediately stop using the Pedetid magnetic ball toy set because it can easily cause serious harm to children, such as poisoning, intestinal damage, and even death.

The magnetic ball set is sold on Amazon by Chinese seller Pedetid Store for about $14.

The CPSC said that after testing, it was found that the magnetic ball set did not comply with the requirements of mandatory federal toy regulations. It contained one or more magnets that exceeded the allowable strength. When the magnets were swallowed, the ingested magnets would attract each other or other metal objects and get stuck in the digestive system, posing a risk of perforation, intestinal twisting, blockage, infection, blood poisoning and even death.

In recent years, there have been frequent incidents of children accidentally swallowing magnets in the United States. According to CPSC estimates, from 2017 to 2021, emergency departments in major hospitals in the United States received a total of 2,400 cases of swallowing magnets, including 7 deaths involving the swallowing of dangerous magnets.

It is understood that major e-commerce platforms including Walmart and Amazon are continuously increasing their review of non-compliant products and problematic products. Cross-border sellers selling related products must seize the time to conduct self-inspections and remove related products as soon as possible to avoid unnecessary losses due to product safety issues in the future.

2. Bokser Home Cotton Mattress

On January 19, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced a recall of a Chinese-made mattress due to a fire risk.

The recalled products are Bokser Home 100% cotton mattresses, and all sizes of mattresses with a production date after 2022 are included in this recall.

The CPSC said in an announcement that these mattresses did not meet the federal mandatory mattress flammability standards and posed a fire hazard.

Recently, there have been frequent recalls of baby mattresses. Last month, CPSC also announced the recall of Moonseasleep, DODO Baby House, and Vibe Bear brand baby mattresses. Sellers must pay more attention to the quality of such products and pay attention to product compliance.
