Dubizzle is part of OLX: OLX is the world's leading classifieds brand. The OLX network operates in more than 50 growth markets across Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Latin America and Europe. OLX has over 240 million unique users worldwide and generates more than 17 billion page views per month.

Every month, users post 3 million ads on the Dubizzile platform, there are 90 million searches, and of the 13.5 million visits per month, 8 million are from Egypt.

Business Model

Dubizzile's marketing strategy is "free first, then charge". Users can use the platform for free to trade, but soon the platform will start charging advertising commissions for repeat customers. This charging model first started with the car trading category.

As a To C classified advertising platform, Dubizzile's advertising covers 360 degrees without blind spots, including social media, TV, radio advertising and outdoor advertising. No matter what class of consumer group, there is always an advertising method that can cover them.

Advertising costs

1. Properties for sale

The cost of each ad to be posted in this section is 249 AED, and your ad will stay on the site for 2 months with a refresh tool, which means you can push your ad to the top list after seven days. After the last refresh date, your ad will still be live for another 2 months, but this can vary from city to city.

2. Property rental (agents only)

If you wish to offer a package online, you will start with 5 free packages per day, with a daily free credit of 1.

3. Property rental (landlord only)

Each ad will cost you 249 AED per ad. You can place as many rental property ads as you have landlords at any given time. As an added value, your listing will automatically refresh 8 times in a month to move it to the top of its section.

4. Room rental

Each ad will cost you 49 AED as an added value, your ad will be live on the site for 30 days unless you decide to remove it sooner and get 3 updates within the first 10 days of the posting date.

5. Used car sales

The classic package costs 199 AED. (The price depends on the package you choose)

6. Work

Dubizzle costs 149 AED per ad.

Development History

Dubizzle was founded in 2005 by JC Butler and Sim Whatley.

In January 2019, Dubizzle, a Middle Eastern online classified website headquartered in the UAE, was fully acquired by OLX, a subsidiary of South African Newspapers. South African Newspapers acquired 49% of Dubizzle's shares in April 2018 for US$190 million. Together with the 51% stake acquired by South African Newspapers for US$120 million in 2013, South African Newspapers now holds 100% of Dubizzle's shares.
