UPS has the highest on-time delivery rate for Black Friday packages! It increased from 79% to 89%!

It is learned that recently, according to a survey conducted by Convey by Project 44, a provider of express management platform, during this year's "Black Friday" event in the United States, FedEx's package transportation delays were the most common and its related delivery service was the worst, while USPS had the highest on-time package delivery rate and the best delivery service experience.

According to the survey, in the week since November 26 this year, FedEx's on-time delivery rate was 64%, a significant drop compared to 2020 (75%). UPS's on-time delivery rate was 83%, which is almost the same as the level in 2020 (81%). However, USPS's on-time delivery rate increased from 79% to 89%, making it the only express company with a significant improvement in delivery levels.

Convey by Project44 also pointed out that, overall, this year's Black Friday, American consumers waited one and a half days longer for their packages to arrive. Last year, the average delivery time for each package was 1.31 days, and this year it increased to 3.01 days. In short, the level of package delivery in the United States has dropped significantly during this year's peak season.

The report said that the main reason for package delivery delays is that consumers shopped in advance. It is reported that in the United States, 35% of people have completed their holiday shopping, 13% have completed half of it, 9% have completed three-quarters of it, and another 7% plan to shop.

It is learned that compared with the peak season in 2020, 64% of online shoppers found that the cost of package delivery this year has increased; 62% of online shoppers found that the threshold for free delivery has become higher, and it often costs more for merchants to provide free delivery services. This is all caused by labor shortages and insufficient inventory, which has further led to a decline in package delivery levels.
