Attention! Ten reasons why your Amazon account is blocked

Attention! Ten reasons why your Amazon account is blocked

Amazon is committed to providing customers with a first-class shopping experience and meeting all their shopping needs. In order to protect the interests of sellers and create the ultimate customer shopping experience, Amazon has set a series of rules. The rules cannot be broken and the bottom line cannot be touched, otherwise the store will face the risk of being closed. So what behaviors will cause the store to be closed?

1. Infringement, appearance, trademark, patent, keyword infringement, etc.

As we all know, European and American countries have very strict protection of intellectual property rights. Therefore, when doing business in foreign markets, in addition to protecting your own intellectual property rights, you must also ensure that you do not infringe on the intellectual property rights of others. The same is true on the Amazon platform. If a seller is complained of infringement, the product will be removed from the shelves at the least, and the account will be directly blocked and the store will be closed at the worst.

2. Product quality leads to account suspension

Many reasons for account suspension are related to product quality. Amazon requires sellers to sell high-quality products and cannot ignore quality for the sake of price and quantity.

3. Sales of Prohibited/Restricted Products

Products that Amazon explicitly prohibits from being sold cannot appear on the platform, and restricted products need to be approved by Amazon before they can be sold. Many products need to be certified by an authority before they can be sold on Amazon. For example, to sell medical equipment, toys, etc., you need to obtain documents approved by relevant agencies. In addition, you need to upload other documents such as safety data sheets and exemption forms. Therefore, sellers must comply with relevant regulations to avoid trouble.

4. Store closure due to product and description issues

This means that the actual product is too different from the description in the listing. When the product received by consumers is not the same as what they ordered, buyers are likely to file a complaint. If this happens too often, sellers will be warned by Amazon or their stores will be closed.

5. Account blocking due to account association

In order to ensure fair competition among sellers and improve the shopping experience of buyers, Amazon stipulates that the same identity is not allowed to have multiple accounts on the same site. Determining account association means that Amazon obtains seller-related information through technical means and determines that multiple store accounts belong to the same seller by matching association factors.

6. Amazon’s store closure due to poor performance indicators

Performance indicators are codes of conduct set for third-party sellers. Amazon uses performance indicators to distinguish good, medium and poor sellers. Among these indicators, order defect rate, order cancellation rate and delayed shipment rate are the main reasons for account closure. Return rate and customer service dissatisfaction rate are not hard indicators for measuring seller accounts.

7. Control Review

This is prohibited by Amazon. Sellers cannot buy reviews or offer discounts or free gifts in exchange for positive reviews. Amazon has strict rules to ensure the authenticity of reviews and sellers are strictly prohibited from manipulating reviews.

8. Failed KYC audit

KYC audit fails, which often occurs in European accounts. The full name is Know Your Customer, which is a European account qualification audit. Usually, the seller cannot provide the complete information required by Amazon, resulting in the account being blocked.

9. Merge Zombie Listings

Merging zombie listings to quickly obtain reviews is a practice that Amazon cracks down on severely.

10. Not Complying with Amazon UPC Requirements

All sellers who do business on Amazon must use UPC. This code is essential and can be used as a product identifier to help Amazon track product performance. If sellers purchase UPCs from illegal channels, it is easy to cause code mismatches, which can lead to sellers being banned.

If the account is blocked for the first time, it can usually be restored as long as the seller promises not to repeat the past behavior and follows all "Amazon rules". However, if it is the peak season, it will be much more difficult to appeal after the account is blocked than usual. Sellers should avoid risks and operate in compliance with regulations in the long run.
