I am 25 years old this year. When I was 24, I switched from domestic e-commerce operations to Amazon. I first came into contact with Amazon in Foshan. At that time, I knew nothing about Amazon. I just knew that Amazon was in its heyday, so I suddenly made up my mind to change my career and look for a job at Amazon. I encountered obstacles everywhere and finally found a job in Foshan with a basic salary of 3,500 and no commission. Compared with the salary of my previous job, there was a huge gap, but I thought it was just a temporary transition, so I accepted the job. After that, I worked in this company for almost a year and got an overall understanding of Amazon.
After the Chinese New Year, I resigned. Less than a week after resigning, I suddenly had the idea of going to Shenzhen. At that time, I was completely unprepared. I immediately looked at the recruitment information, arranged three days of interviews, and then casually took a change of clothes and bought a high-speed rail ticket to Shenzhen. Because I wanted to save money on hotel accommodation, I arranged as many interviews as possible within 3 days. I rushed to the interviews as soon as I arrived in Shenzhen. I arranged 5 interviews on the first day. I was more tired than ever. Not only did I have to catch up with the progress, but I also had to deal with various HR's difficulties. At noon, because I had to go to the company for the interview in advance and interview as early as possible, I went directly to the creative park of that company after eating. I slept for about 20 minutes on the public bench in the creative park in the morning. The next day, there were 6 interviews. Because I didn’t know two of them well in advance, I went to talk for a short time, but they were not suitable for some reasons, so they ended quickly. I arranged one for the third day in advance, so the truly meaningful ones were 4.
At noon on the second day, I felt physically and mentally exhausted. I couldn't hold on for the third day of interviews, so I gave up the third day's plan and bought a high-speed rail ticket to go back after the second day. After that, I received notifications of passing all the interviews. At this time, I was very hesitant because the companies I looked for were of similar types and sizes. The only difference might be the level of five social insurances and one housing fund, and the working hours and vacations were a little different. Everything else was very similar. When deciding which company to go to, my classmates in Shenzhen told me that the salary I offered was too low for Shenzhen, because I compared it with my salary in Foshan and then offered it according to my own ability. But I underestimated the salary in Shenzhen. However, I had agreed on the expected salary at the beginning, and it seemed not good to regret it now, so I didn't communicate and adjust. Then an HR of a company called me several times and asked me how I thought about it. I was not very interested. Then the supervisor who interviewed me in the second round called me and communicated with me about the salary structure adjustment. Finally, I came to this company. As expected, I still succumbed to the temptation of money, hahaha
When I came to Shenzhen to work, I was unfamiliar with the place and encountered many setbacks. I searched for a house for a long time but couldn't find a suitable one because it was too expensive. The price of a single room in an ordinary private house was over 1,000 yuan. When I was in Foshan, I could live in a community house for 1,000 yuan, and a single room in a private house was only a few hundred yuan. In the end, I had no choice but to find a house with a relatively high cost performance near the company. At the beginning, I was not used to the fast pace of Shenzhen. I had severe hair loss. I could clearly feel that my hair was getting less and less, and my head was getting balder and balder. The pressure was really great. Since I chose to come to Shenzhen, I had already prepared myself mentally, but I still overestimated my ability to withstand pressure. I didn't expect it to be more difficult than I thought. I had no choice but to bear it. I knew that this would definitely require a transition period. After all, going from one city to another completely unfamiliar city requires adapting to many things.
Today is November, and there are only two months left this year. Let me talk about my gains. I have experienced a truth, that is, you make money in Shenzhen and spend it in Shenzhen, and you want to take it home as soon as you leave. I have been in Shenzhen for more than half a year, but my savings seem to have decreased instead of increased. Don’t ask why, I don’t know where the money goes. When I was in Foshan, although the salary was low, at least I could save some every day. When I came to Shenzhen, the salary was much higher, but I couldn’t save money, which was also strange. I also experienced what a fast pace is. The fastest meal is solved in 5 minutes. I used to go to the toilet for at least 5 minutes, but now I hate to go. I used to walk to work, but now I can’t even describe it as walking. It’s called walking fast, the kind with the wind. I guess everyone should pay most attention to the improvement of ability. Well, ability improvement, of course there is, the ability to spend money has improved, hahahaha. There will definitely be an improvement in work ability. After all, in this city, if your ability does not improve, you can only be eliminated. Another thing is the improvement of stress resistance.
Finally, the topic is, have you ever regretted working for Amazon? My answer is yes, every time I was exhausted from work. Have you ever wondered if the original decision was too casual? Yes, every time I saw no hope. Have you ever wondered if you regret coming to Shenzhen? Yes, every time I felt confused about the future. Have you ever wondered why you came to Shenzhen? Yes, every time you lost your way. But every time I woke up the next day, these questions were thrown behind me, because I still had to face life and reality. But I also learned to enjoy life and bring a different flavor to the boring life.
