Starting in 2023! The USPS will adjust rates every January and July!

It is learned that the United States Postal Service (USPS) announced today that it will increase the price rates of its market-leading products twice a year, in January and July each year.

It is reported that starting from January 2023, price adjustments for market-leading products will be made twice a year (for example, January 2023, July 2023, January 2024, and July 2024). Market-leading products include First Class Mail (FCM), USPS Marketing Mail, Periodicals, Packaging Services, and Special Services.

The July 2022 rate authorizations will consist of 10 months of the CPI (Consumer Price Index) plus retired, density, and noncompensatory class authorizations, as determined by the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC). The January rate authorizations will consist of 6 months of the CPI plus any unused rate authorizations. The subsequent July rate authorizations will consist of 6 months of the CPI plus retired, density, and noncompensatory class authorizations plus any remaining unused rate authorizations.

The Postal Service has submitted a formal statement to China that gives estimated application and implementation dates for each mail class change over the next three years.
