Total spending is about $885.76! 2021 U.S. consumer peak season shopping trend forecast!

It is learned that according to a survey by the US promotion website RetailMeNot, US consumers are expected to spend US$885.76 during this year's peak shopping season, US$120 more than in 2020.


According to RetailMeNot, here are the percentages of spending that U.S. consumers expect to make in each of the major categories during the 2021 shopping season:


  • Clothing/Apparel: 58%

  • Gift cards: 54%
  • Toys: 40%
  • Small electronics (smartphones, smartwatches, headphones): 38%
  • Food and beverages (e.g. food baskets, wine, liquor): 36%
  • Jewelry: 32%
  • Makeup and skin care products: 29%
  • Large electronics (TVs, laptops, game consoles): 26%

According to reports, 83% of respondents said they would start holiday shopping before Thanksgiving, and 24% would start in November. In addition, about 56% said they prefer to shop online, and 46% said they would buy items from merchants that offer free shipping services, and 45% said they would buy items from stores with the lowest prices.


According to RetailMeNot, here are the deals online shoppers crave:


  • Get a trade discount: 71%

  • Good quality and low price: 52%
  • Provide detailed product information: 47%
  • Provide delivery or pickup service: 43%
