Walmart Canada announced that it will stop using single-use plastic bags by 2022!

It is learned that according to foreign media reports, Walmart Canada recently announced that it will completely stop using disposable plastic bags in early 2022, including plastic bags used for in-store shopping, in-store pickup, and package delivery.

Walmart will reportedly encourage consumers to bring environmentally friendly shopping bags to shop or pick up items in the store, and will also provide low-cost, high-quality reusable packaging bags for purchase by consumers in need.

According to reports, Walmart Canada will complete the rectification of more than 400 physical stores by April 22 next year. This is because the federal government has announced that the ban on single-use plastic items (including bags, straws and cutlery) will take effect at the end of 2021, and relevant regulations are expected to be formally determined in 2022.

Horacio Barbeito, president of Walmart Canada, said the elimination of plastic shopping bags is an important milestone in Walmart's support for sustainable development, and Walmart will prevent more than 75 million plastic bags from circulating in the market each year.

It is learned that Canadian residents discard about 3 million tons of plastic waste each year, but only 9% of it is recycled. Walmart's move will effectively avoid the generation of plastic waste and is a great move that benefits mankind, society and the country.
