Target's peak season traffic increased by 6.2%! Surpassing Walmart and Best Buy!

It is learned that according to Reuters research, Target's web traffic increased significantly during the 2021 peak season (November 1 to December 25), while Walmart and Best Buy's web traffic declined overall.

Target’s web traffic grew 6.2% during the peak season this year compared with 2019, while Walmart and Best Buy saw declines of 0.1% and 11.5%, respectively, according to market research firm Placer.ai.

It is learned that Target is also stronger than Walmart and Best Buy in terms of revenue. Previously, industry professionals predicted that Target's sales in the 2021 peak season will increase by more than 33.3 % compared with 2019, while Walmart is expected to increase by 7% and Best Buy is expected to increase by 10%.

In addition, Target also received more attention in terms of store traffic. Target's traffic increased in all states except Hawaii and Washington, D.C., with traffic in Vermont and Idaho increasing by nearly 24% compared to 2019. Walmart's traffic declined in 20 states, with Florida, New Jersey, Maryland and Delaware experiencing the most severe declines. Best Buy's traffic also showed a downward trend in all major states (except four states).

It is worth noting that although Target's performance during this year's peak season was very strong, its net profit in the fourth quarter is expected to decrease due to supply chain issues, and the growth rate may drop from 27.10% (2019) to 25.35%.
