It is learned that the United States Postal Service (USPS) announced on Tuesday the launch of a next-day delivery service (Connect Local) for small shippers who deliver to the community, aiming to enrich the types of express delivery services for small shippers.
USPS Connect Local is currently available at more than 800 locations in Texas and will be rolled out to more than 3,400 locations nationwide by the end of September, Steve Monteith, USPS chief customer and marketing officer and executive vice president, said in a news release.
In addition to next-day delivery, Connect Local also offers same-day and weekend delivery in select locations. For same-day delivery, shippers are required to drop off packages at local post offices between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m.
According to a survey of 500 US corporate retailers by Bringg, 63% of retailers offer next-day delivery and 26% offer same-day delivery. The launch of Connect Local fills the gap for local businesses that want to provide next-day and same-day delivery services in their local communities.
