Walmart Mexico plans to invest $1.3 billion in 2022 to strengthen omnichannel sales!

It is learned that according to foreign media reports, Walmart Mexico recently plans to invest 27.6 billion pesos (1.322 billion US dollars) to strengthen local omni-channel services, an increase of 35% over the previous year.

In an era of high inflation affecting consumers, Walmart plans to invest its vertical growth in its Mexican supermarket Bodega Aurrera and double its physical and e-commerce sales (omnichannel) by offering low prices and discounts. In addition, the company also hopes to double the number of users connected to its BAIT (Bodega Aurrera Internet and Telephony) mobile service this year, which currently has 2 million users.

The US-based retail giant has years of experience with an omnichannel business model that enables it to compete with other supermarkets, neighborhood stores, and even e-commerce giants like Amazon and Mercado Libre.

In addition, Walmart intends to use 17% of the funds to strengthen its logistics network. In addition to expanding its distribution center in Culiacán by 40%, it is expected to open a new distribution center in the Bajío region, which will serve as the distribution center for the local Sam's Club and will be put into operation in 2026.

Technology and e-commerce projects are expected to receive 15% of the funding budget, with Walmart's focus on increasing market share through increased discounting and becoming a leading omnichannel company.
