Nearly 1,000 new sellers added every week! Why are all the sellers going to Walmart?

It is learned that according to foreign media reports, after Walmart relaxed the conditions for sellers to enter the market, a large number of sellers are flocking to the Walmart market.

Previously, Walmart has been operating the market as a traditional retailer, trying to balance the rights of sellers selling in the same niche. But now, the retail giant seems to no longer want to do this. Like Amazon, it is also offering some favorable conditions to sellers who join its WFS delivery service, and also helping sellers sell better through sponsored ads.

It is reported that last week, Walmart changed the option for sellers to apply for admission from "Apply to Sell" to "Join the Marketplace", and the retail giant also simplified the registration process.

Walmart has almost completely eliminated the approval process. Now, sellers only need to fill in the company name and contact information on the application form to complete the online application. After submitting business verification, payment details and shipping information, they can have a seller account. The previous problems of checking revenue, inventory, whether it is sold on other platforms, etc. no longer exist.

According to Marketplace Pulse research, nearly a thousand new sellers are now joining the Walmart marketplace each week, which is four times higher than before and almost as fast as the rate of new sellers being added to Amazon's US marketplace.

Walmart has been expanding its third-party marketplace over the past 12 months. First, it has invited many international sellers, most of whom are from China; second, it encourages sellers to use Walmart Fulfillment Service (WFS), similar to Amazon FBA, to transport and store inventory. Finally, Walmart also helps sellers promote products by displaying sponsored ads in search results. As Walmart CEO Doug McMillon said in July: "Walmart is using digital, marketplaces and advertising to grow the third-party seller market."
