1. The e-commerce penetration rate of the personal care and home furnishing market will reach 40% in the next decade
Currently, the penetration rate of personal care and household products in the US e-commerce market is 16.5%. Analyst Blake Droesch predicts that this figure will reach 40% in the next decade, which will be driven by the convenience of online shopping and faster delivery.
2. Simplifying returns helps improve conversion rates
Returns are a major reason for high abandonment rates in online apparel shopping. Analyst Andrew Lipsman said when talking about the return process, but simplifying the return process will help improve conversion rates.
3. By the end of this century, cars will become the largest e-commerce sales category
Analyst Droesch said that although the penetration rate of online automobile sales is low, the potential is huge. In fact, it only needs the e-commerce sales share of the automotive industry to rise to 11% (up from 4.0% this year) to reach sales of $199 billion.
Given the sheer size of the automotive and parts category ($1.7 trillion market in 2022), there is huge potential for sales via online marketplaces.
4. Drone delivery will become a major trend
Once drone delivery infrastructure is established, e-commerce delivery demand will follow. With a complete drone infrastructure, prescription, food delivery and instant demand will soar.
