It is learned that USPS recently announced that it will recruit 28,000 seasonal employees to greatly improve package delivery times to cope with the upcoming holiday shopping season. The USPS also said it has installed 116 new package sorting machines across the U.S. since 2022. The USPS' goal is to install 137 by 2022, which would bring its total number of new package handling machines to 249 since the launch of the American Delivery 10-Year Plan. The USPS recently installed new package sorting machines in Texarkana, Texas, Lexington, Kentucky, Amarillo, Texas, Saco, Maine, and Columbia, Maryland. It is learned that due to the commissioning of new equipment, the USPS's daily package processing capacity has now expanded to 60 million pieces. In May of this year, the USPS said that it expected the number of packages processed per day during the holiday season to reach 40 million, and it was ready to deliver so many packages. The USPS also stated that it has achieved a stable and sufficient workforce by converting 100,000 part-time workers to full-time workers since the beginning of 2021. Among them, more than 41,000 part-time workers have been converted to full-time since January 2022.
