Amazon kills its own brands, eBay and Facebook team up to combat fake reviews

Foreign media reported that Amazon recently quietly stopped displaying its own brands in search results. Previously, Amazon had a display box called "Top Rated From Our Brands", but according to information tracked by Marketplace Pulse, Amazon's own brands no longer appear in search results recently.

The brand previously showed up in the “Top Rated From Our Brands” widget in search results, but recently the widget no longer appears in search results.

In addition, foreign media reported that Amazon is also reducing the search volume of its products in natural search results, such as Amazon Choice, related searches, and best-rated products in the category, etc. Even for many other searches, Amazon products only have two natural search results on the search results page.

On January 9, due to the rampant fake reviews on the platforms, eBay and Facebook recently promised to use a new detection system to crack down on them.

In June last year, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) asked eBay to review its platform to prevent and eliminate fake sales reviews. On Wednesday, the CMA also said that eBay and Facebook had signed a governance agreement on the flourishing of false and misleading reviews.

As a preliminary measure, Facebook deleted 188 pages and groups and disabled 24 accounts related to false reviews, and eBay permanently banned 140 seller accounts. eBay said it has zero tolerance for false and misleading reviews and will take relevant actions against sellers who violate its policies.

To further speed up package delivery, Amazon plans to build a new logistics center in Chicago.

The logistics center is located on the site of the former Maywood Park Racecourse, less than 2 miles from the city center, and its largest warehouse will have approximately 252,000 square feet of space. Once completed, the distribution center will become Amazon's largest distribution center near Chicago.

In October and November last year, Amazon established logistics centers in Australia and Mississippi, USA, respectively, to adapt to growing business needs and provide faster delivery services to more customers.

The establishment of the largest distribution center in Chicago will further enhance its logistics capabilities and expand its logistics network.

On January 8, Amazon announced that it would cooperate with Indian retailer Future Retail Limited (FRL) to expand the influence of both companies in India.

The two companies said in a joint statement that this cooperation is based on their strong online and offline capabilities and will create greater value for customers. At the same time, as part of the agreement, Amazon India will become the authorized online sales channel for FRL stores, and FRL will ensure the participation of FRL stores in the Amazon India market and projects.

In addition, FRL will list its products on Amazon Prime Now to reach customers in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad within 2 hours. Both will focus on groceries, general merchandise and beauty products.

On January 8, Amazon said on Monday that it is planning to apply its smart voice assistant Alexa to other fields such as automobiles.

As Alexa is widely used in the home, Amazon is focusing on bringing it beyond the home, and the automotive industry is one of the first areas to introduce Alexa. In Amazon's view, after the combination of the two, automakers and suppliers can use new products and services to more easily provide consumers with a more convenient and more connected driving experience.
