Large-scale riots continue! UPS and FedEx are fully committed to transporting vaccines, and USPS is experiencing large-scale delays...

Recently, the slow pace of last-mile delivery in the United States has become a major headache for sellers.

After enduring the lottery, the container falling into the water, and the navigation closure , the seller unexpectedly failed in the final stage . With one bad review after another, he was left in tears.

There have been riots in the United States recently. UPS and FedEx are working hard to transport vaccines. A large number of packages are piled up, and USPS is even more delayed...

Four people stabbed in violent clashes in Washington

On the 12th local time, a large-scale demonstration conflict broke out in Washington, the capital of the United States. That night, 200 members of the violent left-wing group "Proud Boys" who supported Trump fought with nearly 100 marchers who opposed Trump.

Four protesters were stabbed in the clashes, which took place four blocks west of the White House, in Franklin Square and elsewhere in the city, and another protester was shot in Olympia.

During the day, about 2,000 Trump supporters from all over the United States gathered near the National Mall in Washington, the capital, chanting slogans such as "Stop the Steal", supporting Trump's allegations of fraud in the election and refusing to acknowledge that Trump had lost the election.

Analysts believe that despite losing the election, the large number of Trump's supporters and the fanatical sentiment show that Trump's influence on American society will not disappear with the change of power , and his opponents are becoming increasingly unyielding.

UPS, FedEx are working hard to transport vaccines

According to CNBC, on December 13th local time, the first batch of trucks carrying the new crown vaccine drove out of a Pfizer manufacturing plant in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

FedEx announced on the 11th that the company is carrying out the transportation of the first batch of new coronavirus vaccines; the next day, UPS also announced that it will begin to participate in and fully support the transportation of the first batch of new coronavirus vaccines.

At present, the vaccine delivery cargo planes of UPS and FedEx, the two major vaccine carriers in the United States, have been put into the vaccine delivery mission, and the staff are also working hard to transport the vaccines.

Most shipments within the United States will be handled by FedEx and United Parcel Service , which have set up special command centers to monitor the vaccine's journey and have dedicated escorts for the vaccines.

Although the United States plans to distribute tens of millions of doses of Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine this year, there are still many difficulties in the actual transportation, storage, and distribution process.

This is an extremely high threshold task, requiring a complete cold chain temperature control system and professional and efficient operational capabilities. Some US officials even said that this critical and complex feat can be compared to the Normandy Landing during World War II.

The vaccine needs to be stored in an ultra-low temperature of -70°C, sealed, and in an insulated box wrapped in dry ice, and dry ice needs to be added several times during the process. It can be seen that the staff required for this vaccine transportation is far more than expected .

USPS delivery is widely delayed, with the longest delivery time being 30 days

Now the delivery of the entire US end is in a tight state. Recently, the delivery time of USPS has become more and more outrageous, and many sellers are dissatisfied with Amazon's inaction. Because Christmas is coming, many buyers are beginning to worry about whether their Christmas gifts can be delivered on time, which has also caused an increase in the return rate and complaint rate.

"The USPS is also experiencing unprecedented pressure due to the huge backlog of packages in the United States. Is there anything Amazon can do, such as reminding buyers that packages may be delayed or adjusting the delivery time shown to sellers?"

Some sellers said that with the current USPS last-mile delivery, if they are lucky, it can be delivered within 5-8 days. But some sellers said that it depends on the region. For example, for goods in North Carolina, it takes 7 days just to leave Charlotte.

Even priority packages (2-3) take 7 days to arrive. A first-class package shipped by a seller on the 1st was not delivered until the 9th.

Some sellers called the post office to ask if priority packages were still on time, and the answer was no. The post office said that due to a backlog of orders, some packages would take up to 30 days to deliver. Sellers hope that Amazon will quickly issue an announcement to inform all buyers that shipping delays may cause delivery times of up to 30 days. Buyers' returns due to delivery delays are not the seller's fault, so why should the seller bear the responsibility?

Currently, most USPS packages display the following logistics information:

“In Transit, Arriving Late!”

“Your package will arrive later than expected, but is still on its way. It is currently in transit to the next facility.”

According to the financial report released by USPS in November, its operating income was US$73.1 billion, an increase of nearly US$2 billion compared with last year, a year-on-year increase of 25.3%. Its parcel volume increased by nearly 1.2 billion pieces, an increase of 18.8%.

Amazon launches Amazon Hub to encourage buyers to pick up their own items

Foreign media reported that due to the epidemic blockade and the surge in Christmas shopping demand during the Christmas shopping season, many Amazon stations are facing logistics and warehousing problems, and warehouse overflows may occur.

At the same time, in order to alleviate the pressure on the logistics network during the holiday shopping season, Amazon provides different delivery locations in more than 900 cities and towns in the United States , and launches a new way to track, receive and pick up holiday packages-Amazon Hub.

Through the contactless package pickup method of Amazon Hub, customers are encouraged to pick up their packages themselves instead of having them delivered to their door; when the package is delivered, customers will receive an email notification of where and how to pick it up (pickup time: 3-15 days). This allows customers to enjoy the self-pickup package experience provided by Amazon in communities, cities and university campuses with (/without) human attendance.
