Sellers beware! China-Europe trains are severely congested and may last until mid-July

On the one hand, the improvement of the epidemic situation abroad and the rebound in sales have rekindled sellers' enthusiasm for cross-border e-commerce; on the other hand, the chain reactions caused by logistics problems have made sellers anxious.
 
In cross-border e-commerce, every link is crucial, including product selection, product listing, delivery, and after-sales service. Recently, in the seller communication group, many sellers reported that the logistics timeliness and product listing speed are particularly slow. Some sellers took half a month to enter the warehouse, and some took a month or even longer.
 
Sellers have expressed that they are frustrated and are about to collapse from the waiting time. Some even wonder if Amazon is going to go bankrupt.

In fact, logistics problems have been emerging since June. As the epidemic situation in China and abroad improved, a large number of sellers stockpiled goods for shipment, resulting in multiple warehouses bursting. First, the US FBA warehouse was seriously overwhelmed, and then there was news of warehouse explosions in Japan and the UK.
 
Due to the large backlog of goods, congested queues at warehouses and serious transportation delays, many sites have been hit hard, which has had a direct impact on sellers' sales.

According to sellers’ feedback, the current situation of sea and air transport is not optimistic. Recently, even rail transport has experienced serious congestion.
 
It is reported that in the first half of 2020, the number of China-Europe freight trains increased rapidly. Some ports began to experience severe congestion from late June, with a large number of trains stuck at the ports and unable to leave the country on time.

At present, the Alashankou Port and Horgos Port in Xinjiang are greatly affected, and the China-Europe freight trains from Chengdu, Xi'an, Yiwu and other places are experiencing congestion at the above-mentioned ports.
 
Causes of congestion:
1. More cities will launch China-Europe freight trains this year.
2. Due to the impact of the epidemic, some sea and air freight orders have been transferred to railways, increasing the transportation pressure of China-Europe express trains.
3. Related to the transportation capacity of other countries.
4. Some "wide-gauge countries" are facing a shortage of vehicle floor panels at the Alashankou Port.

A person in charge of a China-Europe train company in the western region said that the port congestion may extend until mid-July. At the request of the China Railway Corporation, several China-Europe train companies cut some of their capacity from June to July to "ease congestion and ensure smooth traffic."


             

              


Sellers need to be aware that due to the severe congestion of China-Europe trains, some trains may be delayed in shipment recently, and the logistics needs of some goods may be difficult to meet in time. In recent weeks , it is estimated that there will be delays in the shipment of railway cabinets. It is recommended that cross-border sellers who need to ship goods can choose other transportation channels and be prepared for logistics delays.

 
From the current perspective, the logistics conditions in all aspects are not optimistic, with warehouse overflow, congestion, and slow listing, but it will take some time to solve these problems.
