It is learned that Carrefour announced on Tuesday that it will spend 3 billion euros between 2022 and 2026 to strengthen its e-commerce development, which is an increase of about 50% compared with the average annual investment of 400 million euros since 2018.
As a result, Carrefour raised its total annual investment target to around 1.7 billion euros, at the higher end of the 1.5-1.7 billion euro range communicated at the beginning of 2021.
In addition, Carrefour also plans to triple its e-commerce GMV (gross merchandise value) to 10 billion euros by 2026. To achieve this goal, Carrefour will accelerate the development of various forms of e-commerce, such as second-hand markets, consignment products of major brands, and non-food products of the group's own brands.
The company believes that with the continued transformation of this e-commerce operating model, it expects e-commerce recurring operating income to increase by €600 million by 2026.
