A large number of listings have been removed from the shelves, and Amazon is tightening category review!

There are less than 4 days left until Prime Day.

Adhering to the rule of "double the attack during peak season", in the final sprint of preparation for this peak season, Amazon once again caught sellers off guard and launched a wave of category sweeps.

Sellers revealed that a large number of BSR links in the category have changed

It is learned that recently, a piece of news about "Amazon has massively removed the links to the Best Sellers list of a certain category" has been circulating in the cross-border circle.

Given that it is rare for all categories to be suspended, the news caused an uproar in the cross-border circle:
"What kind of event is this? It's such a big deal."
"The bloody American station."

Since the screenshot did not explicitly mention the category that was taken off the shelves, many sellers were discussing it.

Some sellers speculated that the products removed from the shelves in the picture were lithium batteries, which might belong to the lighting or medical equipment categories. This speculation came from the fact that Amazon removed lithium battery products in batches at the beginning of last year, and many sellers' sales links suddenly became disabled.

However, no abnormalities were found on the Best Sellers list of the above-mentioned related categories.

In addition, some sellers said that Amazon has always been very strict in reviewing products in the baby category. Last year, links to the subcategories of the baby category, "Baby Head Shaping Pillows" and "Baby Sleeping Bags," showed that a large number of products were not available for sale. The category that was removed this time was another subcategory of the baby category - "Diaper changing messengers."

The investigation found that this morning on Amazon's US site, there was indeed an abnormality in the Best Sellers list of the "Diaper changing messengers" category - only one local brand that was shown to be out of stock was displayed normally on the list.

Based on this, more sellers believe that the category revealed in the above screenshot is "Diaper changing messengers".

However, unlike the "Baby Head Shaping Pillows" and "Baby Sleeping Bags" categories that were previously removed from the shelves in large numbers, Amazon's removal of products in the "Diaper changing messengers" category this time seemed to have been foreshadowed.

Amazon is strictly checking the compliance of children's products

According to foreign media reports, Amazon has recently stepped up its efforts to review the compliance of children's products, requiring sellers to provide multiple test certificates for related products. Among them, backpack products are one of the products that are first to be reviewed.

It is worth noting that the review this time is very strict, and even sellers selling backpacks designed for adult use cannot avoid the review.

According to one seller’s observation, when searching for “backpack” on Amazon last month, the homepage was mostly filled with backpacks from Amazon’s own brand or other well-known brands, while products from other small and medium-sized sellers selling backpacks were nowhere to be seen.

In addition, on the Amazon seller forum, several sellers selling adult backpacks also revealed that they had received review warnings from Amazon.

Amazon stated in the email that the sellers’ products have been identified as children’s school supplies - backpacks, so they need to prove to Amazon that their products have undergone compliance testing for requirements such as lead, cadmium or phthalates.

Although several sellers told customer service that they were selling backpack products designed for adult use and therefore the supplier did not have corresponding product safety documents for the children's product series, Amazon managers still asked sellers whether there was evidence that the product was designed for adult use.

There were even cases where Amazon removed ordinary business backpacks that had been sold for a year because the sellers failed to submit relevant compliance documents as required.

So far, many sellers are angry about Amazon’s indiscriminate audits, but Amazon has not yet responded.

In general, it is an indisputable fact that Amazon is stepping up its efforts to review the compliance of children's products . The products in the Diaper changing messengers category mentioned above are indeed likely to have been restricted due to compliance reviews.

Based on the reasons speculated by the sellers, sellers involved in related products are reminded to submit relevant compliance materials as soon as possible to avoid losses due to subsequent categories being removed from the shelves.

I wonder if there are any abnormalities in the categories of your products? Welcome to discuss in the comments section~
