Acquisitions

In May 1999, eBay merged with online payment service company Billpoint. The company ceased operations after eBay acquired PayPal.

In June 2002, eBay merged with PayPal in a stock transaction valued at $1.5 billion.

On July 11, 2003, eBay merged with China's largest e-commerce company EachNet (Chinese name: "YiQi") for RMB 150 million in cash and launched a joint auction website "eBay YiQi".

On June 22, 2004, eBay acquired the Indian auction website Baazee for $50 million plus additional cash.

In October 2005, eBay acquired Skype technology.

In December 2006, eBay and TOM Online established a joint venture, TOM Eachnet, with respective holdings of 49% and 51%.

In April 2012, Eachnet is no longer a related website of eBay in China. Eachnet is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tom Group and all services provided by the Eachnet website are not affected.

On November 12, 2012, eBay chose to cooperate with local fashion e-commerce website Zouxiu.com to launch the online shopping channel "eBay Style Show"

In February 2014, eBay, an international e-commerce company, announced the acquisition of PhiSix, a computer graphics company. PhiSix can create 3D models based on photos, graphic files and other sources, and simulate the effect of trying on clothes.

On September 30, 2014, eBay Inc. announced the spin-off of PayPal as an independent company, which was completed on July 20, 2015. The agreement stipulates that eBay cannot launch payment services within 5 years, and PayPal cannot develop an independent online trading platform for physical products.

On May 6, 2016, eBay announced the acquisition of Expertmaker, a Swedish company that uses machine learning for big data analysis.

On January 31, 2018, eBay announced plans to stop using PayPal as its back-end payment service provider.
