Founding Origin

In 2009, Victoria Tsai quit her job on Wall Street, sold her engagement ring, moved back to her mother's house, and founded the beauty brand Tatcha in a garage in San Francisco. In the first nine years of its creation, Victoria Tsai said she never received any salary.

Basic Introduction

Tatcha is an American brand developed, produced and manufactured in Japan. The founder of Tatcha is Victoria Tsai, a Chinese American girl whose ancestral home is Taiwan. Tatcha was founded in 2009. The inspiration for Tatcha's skincare products comes from a collection of manuscripts in Kyoto at the end of the Edo period that recorded the skincare secrets of geishas at that time. On this basis, the secrets of skin beauty and Western art were combined and improved to create this high-end skincare brand Tatcha.

Development History

On August 18, 2020, Tatcha, a Japanese high-end skincare brand under Unilever, announced its entry into Tmall International, marking its first entry into the Chinese market.

In 2019, Unilever acquired Tatcha for US$500 million.

In 2017, private equity firm Castanea Partners acquired a minority stake in Tatcha.

In 2017, Tatcha completed 1 million school days of donations, including teaching materials, classrooms, life skills tutoring, etc., to help girls grow.
