What is GTIN? GTIN Review

GTIN is the Global Trade Item Number, which is called the EAN/UCC-14 code structure, corresponding to the ITF-14 barcode. Its coding rule is the EAN/UCC-13 code of the single product plus the packaging indicator. It is a set of digital codes that uniquely identify retail goods, non-retail goods, and logistics units worldwide, and can be widely used in product management, logistics transportation, data synchronization, e-commerce, mobile commerce and other fields.

About GTIN

The UPC code of the product is 8 12751 00850 7. It must be converted into an EAN-13 code by adding a digit 0 in front: the EAN code of the product is 0 812751 008507. For the same product with different packaging forms, the outer box barcode can be based on EAN-13, with a packaging indicator in front, which can distinguish different packaging levels (large box inside small box), different packaging types (carton, plastic box), and different packaging quantities (20 pieces per box, 40 pieces per box). The packaging indicator digits range from 1 to 8. So the code of the small box is 1 081275 00850 4, and the code of the large box is 2 081275 00850 1. 4 and 1 are check codes. Since the first digit has changed, the check code must also be changed.

effect

The Global Trade Item Number gives each product its own identity code, helping product owners manage products in a more standardized and regulated manner; helping partners exchange data more accurately and quickly during logistics and retail processes; and helping consumers obtain product information more conveniently.

composition
