12 Practical and Effective Amazon Seller Compliance Review Tips

12 Practical and Effective Amazon Seller Compliance Review Tips

1️⃣Use the “Request a Review” button on Amazon

Amazon's "Request a Review" button allows sellers to send automatic follow-up emails to buyers within 4 to 30 days after purchase. However, when requesting reviews, it is easy to miss them if you click to send emails one by one manually. It is recommended to use the one-click review request function of some plug-ins to help manage orders.

2️⃣VINE Project

If you are a brand seller, you can apply to participate in Amazon's VINE program in the background and provide products for reviewers to review. However, if the product quality is not good, it is not recommended to participate in the VINE program, otherwise it is easy to get bad reviews.

3️⃣ Tell buyers that only star ratings are needed for reviews

That is, buyers can leave a star rating for the product without adding any comments, and the rating of this "evaluation" method is also calculated in the star rating of the link.

This new, simpler way to rate should encourage more Amazon buyers to leave reviews and could be a boon to sellers. To help educate buyers, include a diagram on your product insert or packing slip. Show them that they only need to click to rate, not write a lengthy review. Don’t violate Amazon’s policies by focusing too much on positive reviews, but recognize that the power of recommendations comes from explaining what to do.

4️⃣Trust Amazon’s own follow-up system

Amazon has a comprehensive post-sale system for following up with buyers who have purchased a product. These automated emails encourage shoppers to leave reviews and report any issues with the product.

Normally, Amazon only sends a product review request email to sellers. However, we can send a second request using the Amazon Request a Review feature.

5️⃣Third -party email reply system

In addition to Amazon’s internal automatic replies, many sellers use third-party email reply systems to send messages through Amazon’s seller messaging system.

It’s important to note that Amazon strictly limits the number and types of messages that can be sent through its seller messaging system. Basically, sellers can only send “allowed messages” to request reviews/feedback or returns, etc., and cannot send more than shipping status updates.

6️⃣Reduce negative reviews

Ensuring the quality of products and services is the most basic condition for obtaining good reviews. Reducing negative reviews can also increase our good reviews. For negative reviews, what we need to do is to discover them in time, follow up in time, and properly resolve them.

7️⃣Do off-site promotion

Many sellers go to deal platforms and discount websites to launch new products. Because these websites offer money-saving promotions, some buyers feel obligated to leave positive reviews or feedback for Amazon sellers.

8️⃣Use product inserts

In previous incidents where Amazon cracked down on review manipulation and caused accounts to be banned, some sellers reported that their stores were banned because they used product inserts to obtain reviews. There were also reports that Amazon had developed a method to detect product inserts, causing many sellers to no longer dare to place product inserts.

In fact, you can put product inserts (thank you cards, gift certificates, after-sales cards), as long as you don’t make the following three mistakes:

1) Ask for positive reviews directly: Sellers can ask for reviews through product inserts, but the attitude must be neutral, allowing buyers to make all kinds of comments, including neutral and negative comments, and cannot only ask for positive comments. For safety reasons, try to avoid using words such as happy, satisfied, and 5-star.

2) Using rewards in exchange for reviews: Gifts cannot be used as rewards in exchange for positive reviews.

3) Attempting to circumvent Amazon’s sales process: Sellers may not provide links or information that prompt users to visit any external website or complete the transaction elsewhere.

9️⃣Personally provide products for testing, that is, real people send them for testing

Let people know how to get your product for free to test it, creating a reliable pool of testers you can turn to again and again.

Urge them to promote your product to friends and family through word of mouth so they don’t feel pressured to review your product. Push too hard and they may be less willing to leave a review and turn you down in the future. This is a risky approach online, but it can still work in person.

10. Attend trade shows and give out free gifts

You can ask people you meet at expos and trade shows to test and review your product. It doesn’t matter if they are testers, reviewers, influencers, or other attendees, because you don’t know them, so you can ask for a review.

Keep in mind that like all Amazon reviews that are not associated with an order on Amazon, these reviews will not be “Verified Purchase” reviews and therefore may not carry as much weight in the review ranking algorithm.

Later, they can purchase directly on Amazon and receive a refund to get a real shopping experience.

11. Call on your relatives and friends

Ask random acquaintances to give their friends your product to try or keep. If they know you, the tester needs to disclose this in their review. But people who have no relationship with you have no such obligation, regardless of whether they purchased the item.

12. Help local charities or community groups

Donate products to local charity clubs and social welfare groups. They may need your products and need your products to bring them some help. Express your goodwill to them and let people know that this product can also be sold on Amazon and you need more reviews.

If appropriate, they will add your product to the Most Wished For list and Most Gifted list on Amazon, which will also play a positive role in promoting your product.
