Fake reviews are rampant on Amazon and Walmart! US government agencies will vigorously regulate!

It is learned that according to a survey by Fakespot, an artificial intelligence technology developer, 30.9% of product reviews in the online market in 2020 were fake.

According to the survey, Amazon, Walmart and Best Buy account for half of the fake reviews in the market. Among them, Walmart's reviews are the least reliable and contain the most fake content, while Best Buy's reviews are more realistic and convincing.

Additionally, on Amazon, the categories with the highest rates of fake reviews are women’s apparel, health and personal care, cosmetics, pet supplies, and wireless in-ear headphones.

Fakespot's investigation also pointed out that in 2020, the number of "C", "D" and "F" reviews based on the Fakespot rating system surged during the holiday shopping season, especially during Black Friday and Cyber Monday, when the number of positive reviews doubled. However, Fakespot said that most of these positive reviews were "brushed" by sellers and had extremely low credibility.

It is learned that the number of false reviews is expected to hit a new high during this year's peak season. In response to the increase in the number of false reviews, the US Federal Trade Commission and the e-commerce department are stepping up their crackdown efforts, and sellers found out may be permanently banned from selling.
