Number of Shopify stores


Currently, 3.76 million website domain names worldwide are registered through Shopify, and most domain names (69.67%) are registered in the United States, followed by the United Kingdom and Australia.

Shopify has a plan specifically for enterprise customers, Shopify Plus, which costs $2,000 per month. There are currently 6,082 websites using Shopify Plus, of which 67.49% of Shopify Plus customers are located in the United States.

Data shows that there are currently 1.75 million merchants using the Shopify platform for sales. Since 2019, the company has added 680,000 new merchants. Since 2016, the number of Shopify merchants has increased 4.66 times.

Shopify's merchants are located in 175 countries around the world, half of which are located in the United States, with 874,500 sellers. Another 25% of Shopify's merchants (437,250 sellers) are located in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

457 million people purchased from Shopify stores in 2020. Over the past year, the number of consumers placing orders with Shopify merchants has increased by 52.33%.


Shopify Revenue

Shopify generated $988.6 million in revenue in the first quarter of last year, $1.11 billion in revenue in the second quarter, and $2.10 billion in revenue in 2021 alone. In addition, the second quarter of 2021 was the first quarter that Shopify achieved a billion-dollar quarter.


Shopify’s market share in the United States

According to GMV ranking, Shopify's 8.6% market share in the US e-commerce market exceeds Walmart (5.8%) or eBay (4.9%).
