According to a survey of more than 1,000 Americans by the American Cleaning Institute (ACI), U.S. consumers' demand for cleaning products increased in February, especially wet wipes, with more than half of the respondents saying they would make a purchase. The survey shows that now, 83% of American households use cleaning, disinfectant or antibacterial wipes at least once a week. 62% of respondents will continue to maintain cleaning behaviors related to the new coronavirus, 50% of respondents will continue to frequently disinfect high-touch surfaces, and 64% of respondents said they would purchase disinfectant wipes. In fact, 71% of American consumers use wet wipes at least once a week. According to the survey, the spending of each American household on wet wipes has more than doubled from $6.65 (2016) to $15.53 (2021). According to the authoritative Kline's "Industrial and Institutional Cleaning Wipes" report, sales of cleaning wipes in the United States reached $2.2 billion in 2021. Consumers love to buy wipes made of bamboo and 100% cotton, while microfiber is not so popular. In addition, wipes containing natural ingredients, such as lavender, citric acid, and botanicals, are also very popular, higher than wipes containing hydrogen peroxide and peracetic acid. The report shows that the epidemic has caused American consumers to turn to online purchasing channels. In 2021, sales of wet wipes purchased through e-commerce platforms increased by 190%, sales through DTC channels increased by 115%, sales through traditional distributors decreased by 21%, and sales through retailers also decreased by 37%. Kline director Laura Mahecha said that due to the impact of the epidemic, the demand for wet wipes among American consumers has increased significantly, and wet wipe dispensers can be seen in almost every office, retail store and educational venue.
