Walmart launches new creator platform to promote social e-commerce in peak season

Walmart announced the launch of a new platform for creators on October 18, US time, called "Walmart Creator". This is Walmart's latest move in the field of social e-commerce and will help boost sales in the upcoming holiday season.

 

It is reported that creators who register on the platform will have access to tens of thousands of products. By sharing Walmart sellers' product links to social channels, creators can earn commissions from the generated sales and collect user data.

 

Creators can track and view performance on the Walmart Creator analytics dashboard to understand how customers engage with the products in their posts, and creators can also apply to participate in any upcoming brand campaigns.

 

“Our customers get shopping inspiration from their favorite social media influencers every day, and the next step in our strategy is to connect their favorite creators with Walmart brands,” said William White, Walmart U.S. chief marketing officer.

 

Walmart was an early pioneer in social commerce and has been testing and learning in new channels, including shoppable livestreams. Walmart Creator represents another expansion of Walmart’s social presence, further shortening the path to purchase for consumers.

 

Currently, Walmart Creator is in testing, and Walmart plans to continue growing and optimizing the platform before a full launch in 2023.
