Can’t bear the constant burning of money? Has Mark Zuckerberg given up on metaverse?

It is learned that Meta has been suffering millions of dollars in losses since the announcement of the Metaverse project . In 2021, Zuckerberg described the Metaverse as an ambitious revolutionary commitment in the field of technology, which is his most well-known project to date.

According to the Business Insider portal, the ambitious project aimed at creating a virtual space where users can live parallel lives may end. This may be the result of massive layoffs last year and the failure of a $13 million investment to bear fruit.

This speculation comes from Zuckerberg’s recent speech. The concept of the metaverse as the future of the industry is no longer the protagonist to make way for Reels and the use of artificial intelligence in advertising.

"Meta is no longer talking about the metaverse in conversations with advertisers, but is instead trying to get them to support its TikTok-like short videos and AI tools." This is in stark contrast to last year, when "metaverse" was one of every two words out of Zuckerberg's mouth and he called the metaverse the future of the internet.

Mark Zuckerberg's determination to bet on metaverse began with him changing the company's name "Facebook" to "Meta", and then launching the Metaverse project and constantly promoting the concept.

AMZ23 has learned that Meta has recently given advertisers a big discount, making it clear that the "year of efficiency" has not only laid off tens of thousands of employees, but is also desperately looking for money. If Zuckerberg's dream of the metaverse is shattered, Meta will have to readjust its goals to keep Facebook, Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp running normally.
