Back-to-school survey: 73% of U.S. consumers plan to buy during Labor Day sales

It is learned that on August 14, according to foreign media reports, with the back-to-school season approaching, many American consumers plan to look for the best prices to buy back-to-school supplies during Labor Day promotions.

According to an online survey of more than 1,000 U.S. consumers conducted by HubBox , 66% of consumers delayed buying back-to-school items until Amazon's Prime Day promotion in July, while 73% of consumers planned to look for more discounts on back-to-school items during the Labor Day promotion in September.

Overall, 77% of consumers plan to buy back-to-school supplies this year, with an average household planning to spend $1,196.20. However, 73% of consumers plan to spend less, and the same proportion of consumers intend to reuse items purchased last year to save money. 65% of consumers also said that they will only buy discounted back-to-school items this year.

In addition, the survey shows that consumers are increasingly demanding fast delivery, as 63% of back-to-school purchases are made at the last minute. 84% of consumers say timely delivery of orders is key to their back-to-school shopping, 55% of consumers want to be able to pick up online orders at a convenient location, and 25% of consumers say they will return items if delivery is delayed.

HubBox CEO Sam Jarvis said that as shoppers try to stretch their back-to-school budgets, they place more emphasis on discounts, meaning an extended back-to-school season will last from July until Labor Day sales in September. To this end, retailers must prioritize flexible and reliable delivery options to maintain customer demand and trust.
