Trump halts US fiscal stimulus talks

Prime Day on the 13th and 14th is getting closer and closer. Both American buyers and Chinese sellers are looking forward to the implementation of a new round of US money distribution plan, but this time it was stopped by Trump.

As an active user of Twitter, Trump did not stop tweeting even when he was sick with COVID-19. On October 6, he tweeted and retweeted 62 tweets. Among them, the most notable one was that he suddenly stopped negotiations with congressional Democrats on a new round of anti-epidemic fiscal spending , which attracted criticism from political opponents.

Trump said on Twitter that he rejected the Democratic stimulus plan and ordered his representatives to stop negotiating until the presidential election is over. Trump claimed in a tweet that we gave a very generous $1.6 trillion plan, while House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, as always, had no intention of negotiating in good faith, and the funds sought in her $2.4 trillion stimulus plan had nothing to do with the new crown epidemic.

"Immediately after I win the election, I will pass a major stimulus bill focused on hard-working Americans and small businesses ," Trump said.

This news was a bolt from the blue for sellers, and many sellers said that their October orders would be cancelled .

During the National Day holiday, many sellers said that the order volume has obviously improved compared with the previous period, and it feels a little like the peak season. At the same time, many sellers are also planning to restock products that are about to run out of stock. Now Trump's move has directly cut off the income of Americans.

The US dollar exchange rate fell below 6.7, and sellers suffered heavy losses

On October 9, both onshore and offshore RMB exchange rates against the US dollar soared. The US dollar exchange rate plummeted, falling below 6.7 last night and entering the 6.6 era . For cross-border e-commerce sellers and foreign trade workers, it is really too hard!

Even with the onshore and offshore exchange rate differential caused by the National Day holiday, yesterday's exchange rate trend still exceeded many people's expectations. The onshore exchange rate rebounded, and the offshore exchange rate continued to rise and once broke through the 6.69 mark, reaching a high of 6.6862. The central parity rate of the Bank of China was 677.9600, and the buying price was 667.7400.

After the US dollar exchange rate fell below 6.7, foreign trade workers complained bitterly. Some foreign trade workers said that the orders they received on July 1 have not been shipped yet, and they basically have no money to earn.

Some people secretly rejoiced: What a close call! Fortunately, we urged the customers to pay before the National Day, and all the money was settled at 6.8, otherwise it would only be 6.7 today, and we would lose several thousand yuan.

Based on the current USD exchange rate of 6.69, compared to the peak of 7.17 at the end of May this year, every USD 100,000 cash withdrawal by the seller will result in an exchange loss of RMB 48,000 , which is too scary.

As the US dollar exchange rate continued to decline, sellers began to complain: "With today's exchange rate, another car is gone." Whether it is a car or an electric car depends on the individual.

Seeing that major sales platforms are still engaged in a price war, some sellers can't help but say: "The exchange rate is heading towards 6.5, and our competitors are not raising prices yet. Are they preparing to fight to the death?"

The editor can't help but sigh that the sellers who settled the currency before the National Day should be laughing secretly. For those who settled the currency after the National Day, the money has shrunk. It's really painful. A big piece of my heart has been cut.

Some time ago, I sold the money to customers at an exchange rate of 6.9. If I calculate it at the current exchange rate, I don’t know if it is a waste of time. Of course, if you are not in a hurry to get the money, you can wait a little longer. The exchange rate is different now. If it can rise back to 7...

Amazon released two new notices, and sellers are happy!

I have already talked about things that make sellers sad, now it’s time to talk about some happy things to cheer them up.

On October 7, Amazon released a new brand registration process .

The announcement stated that if you are participating in Amazon’s Brand Registry program for the first time or registering a new brand, we have an updated registration process that involves two new requirements.

That is, if you are a brand owner, you need to provide at least one image showing your brand name, logo, or other identifying mark on the product and/or packaging. You also need to provide at least one ASIN for each product category in which the brand is sold. This will help the Brand Registry better identify the brand being registered. For brands that do not sell on Amazon, you can choose to self-report product categories without providing ASINs.

Sellers are pleasantly surprised and ask: Does this mean that before I get the trademark registration certificate, I only need to provide the above documents and I can file it with Amazon's Brand Registry? In other words, sellers can file it without registering the trademark? However, this is only a unilateral speculation from the sellers at present.

In addition to this, on October 8, Amazon also issued a notice to temporarily change the delivery proof for truck carriers .

The announcement is as follows:

Amazon said that in order to ensure the health and safety of Amazon and transportation company employees, it is currently not providing stamped bills of lading to carriers of goods arriving at Amazon's fulfillment centers. Carriers can provide digital screenshots of delivery appointments as proof of delivery upon request.

Amazon explained that this temporary change will ensure effective social distancing during the delivery process.

In fact, the issue of compensation for lost goods has caused headaches for many sellers, especially in recent times, some sellers’ claims have been rejected. Regarding this notice, some sellers complained that Amazon had asked them to provide this proof not long ago.

This year's peak season will be longer than usual, and inventory is crucial

As the peak season approaches, logistics issues such as warehousing and shelf placement still plague many sellers. Based on the current situation, many sellers lamented: There is little chance of lifting the restrictions on warehousing during the peak season this year, so those who have inventory are the real kings! Some sellers bluntly said that whether there is inventory depends on the specific product. If it is not selling well, there will still be a lot of inventory, and the hot-selling products will always be out of stock.

When it comes to hot-selling products, having inventory is the key to winning during the peak season! If you can’t restock the hot-selling products in time after they are out of stock, the peak season will be completely ruined. With the arrival of Prime Day promotion on the 13th, Amazon’s peak season this year will be longer than ever before.

JPMorgan Chase predicts that this year's Prime Day event could bring in $7.5 billion in revenue, a 42% increase from its expectations for 2019. eMarketer estimates that Prime Day sales this year could be close to $10 billion .

Amazon said it has been working closely with third-party sellers before Prime Day and ensuring there is enough space for sellers to store products in its warehouses. The company has been changing its logistics and supply chain to adapt to the changing situation.

Do you want to take advantage of the Q4 peak season to achieve a comeback and sell big? However, your listing keywords are not ranked, your advertising budget is not enough, Amazon CPC advertising is not effective, and you don’t know how to select products! In short, no matter what you do, your store traffic and sales are not increasing!
