GlobalData is a world-renowned data analysis and consulting company, founded in 1999 and listed on the London Stock Exchange in 2000. It was formerly known as Progressive Digital Media, and before that as TMN Group. Its corporate headquarters are in London, and it has offices in the UK, the US, Argentina, South Korea, Mexico, China, Japan, India and Australia. The group is chaired by Bernard Cragg, former financial director of Carlton Television, and company founder Mike Danson is the CEO. Danson is also one of the founders of Datamonitor. The GlobalData database is similar to the Cortilis (Thomson database), both of which are comprehensive databases covering multiple information such as drug research and development, transactions, and clinical trials. It contains drugs under development in the discovery phase, drugs that have been put on the market, and drugs that have been suspended or withdrawn from the market. The content included includes targets, application status, clinical results, transaction status, etc., which are mainly used to quickly understand drugs. It also has a combined search function, which can be exported based on a certain target or a certain stage of drugs. Both can export overall reports, mainly focusing on drugs that have entered the clinical phase, with less information such as preclinical pharmacology. Compared with cortilis, GlobalData updates relatively slowly. It contains original research and some generic drugs (cortilis only contains original research drugs), the number of drugs contained is relatively small (compared to cortilis), and no patent information is contained. Cortilis has a SWOT analysis for blockbuster drugs. In terms of transaction database, GlobalData can do project valuation analysis, but it is very basic. It can basically cover drug transactions, but it cannot disclose more amounts and contract information. Personally, I prefer to use cortilis, but in general, GlobalData's drug database is still better than Yaodu and Insight. Domestic databases are generally based on databases such as cortilis, and the content contained is relatively small. |
