Amazon gives you a "get out of jail free" card. Can you avoid being blocked by joining the new account protection rules?
Black Friday is approaching, and Amazon has also been issuing new policies recently. After adjusting the account rating function and displaying star ratings on keyword search pages, Amazon recently caught sellers off guard with an account status protection plan.

Amazon launches account status protection plan, can you avoid account suspension by joining?

It is learned that this morning Amazon US announced that it will launch an account status protection program . This program is a new benefit for sellers who have maintained a high account status rating. Once joined, as long as the seller cooperates with Amazon to resolve any problems, the account will not be suspended.

According to the announcement, sellers participating in the program must have their account ratings maintained above 250 for at least six months, with their ratings falling below 250 for no more than three days, and must have a valid emergency phone number saved in the system. Once the conditions are met, the system will automatically help the seller register for the program for free and send an email to notify them.

Currently, only sellers on the US and Canadian sites can enjoy account status protection benefits, which will be expanded to other sites in the coming months.

It is reported that many sellers received email notifications from Amazon after logging into the backend early this morning. Amazon said that once it finds major policy issues in a seller's account, the account status specialist will personally review the relevant issues and proactively work with the seller to resolve the issues.

In summary, sellers who want to join the program must meet the following conditions:

  • Provide valid contact information
  • Contact the Account Health team within 72 hours of receiving the notification to work with you to resolve the issue
  • Sellers need to solve the problem thoroughly while cooperating with the Amazon team
  • Ensure that the account health rating score remains at or above 250 for at least 6 months, and does not drop below 250 for more than 10 days

If the seller does not cooperate in resolving the issue, or if Amazon determines that fraudulent, deceptive, illegal, or other harmful activity has occurred, Amazon may immediately remove the seller from the Account Health Protection Program and deactivate the seller's account.

Sellers have different views on this new policy:

“That means as long as you run your store well, it won’t be easy for Amazon stores to be blocked.”
"It's good to have this. Service providers can't just cheat you out of money."
"Amazon reserves the final right of interpretation. Besides, for new sellers and new stores like us, we are still far from 250 points."

Some sellers admitted that if there is a problem with the account, they still need to file a complaint and transfer it to the US customer service team for processing. However, when the account is in a dangerous state, a specialist will contact to solve the problem. If it is successfully solved, the safety score can be restored. If it cannot be solved, the account will still be blocked.

However, some sellers believe that this is more like a get-out-of-jail-free card, providing sellers with the opportunity to proactively manage and repair their performance. Once an account is abnormal, contact Amazon officials to resolve the issue first to avoid being frozen first.

"In the future, we should further improve the specific performance deduction items and scores, as well as the appeal window and appeal guidance methods for corresponding violation items. When you encounter performance problems in the future, you can provide information according to Amazon's specific requirements and check the progress of the appeal at any time. If the appeal is successful, the deducted points will be restored. Even if the appeal fails, the buyer will be given the opportunity to withdraw the balance." The seller further imagined.

Overall, this new policy undoubtedly has more advantages than disadvantages, providing sellers with a layer of protection to avoid the dilemma of having their accounts suddenly blocked. For sellers, the top priority is to improve the performance scores of their operating accounts.

Amazon adjusts account rating function, accounts that fail to meet the standards will be blocked

In fact, Amazon adjusted the rating function to pave the way for the launch of the Account Health Protection Program shortly before.

Previously, Amazon used green (healthy), yellow (risky), and red (unhealthy) icons to judge the health of accounts. After this upgrade, Amazon introduced a 0-1000 rating system based on color differentiation.

If the account rating is green (200~1000), there is no risk of being blocked; if the account rating is yellow (100~199), it is considered to be at risk of being deactivated; if the account rating is red (99 and below), it means that the account meets the deactivation requirements or has been blocked.

The new rules show that all new sellers will have an initial test score of 200 points. Over time, sellers will see a score that accurately reflects the status of their accounts, which is calculated based on policy compliance and sales activity in the past 180 days.

We understand that recently many sellers have reported that their accounts have been banned because their account ratings were lower than 99 points.

Now that Amazon has introduced a new policy to protect account status, sellers must also comply with regulations and effectively improve their rating scores in order to protect their accounts. Some sellers said that with a basic score of 200 points and 2 points for every 100 valid orders, they must ensure that 2,500 orders are delivered within 180 days, an average of about 14 orders per day.

The "grand occasion" of last year's account blocking wave is still vivid in our minds. Now that Amazon has bestowed this "golden medal of immunity from punishment", sellers' accounts will undoubtedly be more secure and avoid being treated in a one-size-fits-all manner.
