Business Scope

Exel serves the automotive, chemical, consumer, energy, industrial, life sciences, retail and technology industries. Its operations include supply chain management, inbound manufacturing, in-plant services, manufacturing, assembly and packaging, warehousing and order fulfillment, transportation management, home and business delivery and reverse logistics.

In terms of business types, Exel mainly focuses on distribution, transportation management and environmental services, accounting for 58%, 39% and 3% of net income respectively, and 62%, 28% and 10% of operating profit respectively. In terms of geographical distribution, the business is mainly concentrated in the UK and Ireland, and also spread across the Americas, continental Europe, Africa and the Asia-Pacific region, accounting for 39%, 30%, 21% and 10% of net income respectively, and 54%, 27%, 10% and 9% of operating profit respectively.

Business philosophy

Development History

In 1982, NFC was originally a state-owned international ocean freight forwarding company. During the recession of 1982, the Commonwealth Government privatized NFC and the company's employees owned shares in the company.

In 1984, NFC made its first progress after the transformation by establishing a merchant home delivery service center in Oxnard, California.

In 1986, NHC acquired Dauphin Distribution Service (DDS), an American warehousing company with strong strength in the warehousing of consumer goods. In order to provide further services to Marks & Spencer, NPC established a new warehouse to cooperate with Marks & Spencer's warehousing and distribution business in the southeast of England.

In 1988, NFC acquired Allied van lines and on this basis expanded its cooperation with Marks & Spencer.

NFC signed an agreement with Marks & Spencer to provide warehousing and distribution services in France. The signing of this agreement prompted NFC to establish a new cargo distribution center in France. After that, NPC began to provide services for Safeway.

In 1989, NFC purchased Distribution Center Inc. in Ohio and started to operate warehousing and distribution business in the Midwest of the United States. Later, it was listed on the London Stock Exchange. In order to achieve the company's long-term global development strategy, NFC was renamed EXEL Logistics in the UK. EXEL Logistics is composed of the nine branches of the original NFC company in the UK. In the UK, EXEL Logistics becomes an independent third-party logistics company.

In April 1990, NFC issued corporate bonds on the US Stock Exchange. Recruiting veterans in Boston, it established a delivery company to distribute auto parts to auto repair shops. From then on, it began to provide logistics services in the automotive industry. Subsequently, EXEL Logistics established a warehousing and distribution company in Spain with 15 offices.

In 1991, NFC acquired Universal Terminal Warehouse in Texas and began to build the corresponding logistics supporting infrastructure to serve the chemical industry. In the Netherlands, EXEL Logistics purchased Food Express International BV and became the largest independent food storage and distribution company in the Netherlands.

In 1992, EXEL Logistics registered in North America. According to the European business structure model, the company is divided into consumer goods retail, industrial products, health products and customer service departments. Subsequently, EXEL Logistics actively expanded its business in Europe.

In 1993, EXEL Logistics entered Mexico and established a cargo distribution center for Procter & Gamble. EXEL Logistics acquired Macke and further expanded its business in Germany. In order to cooperate with Kellogg's Canada Inc. in the expansion of its business in Canada, EXEL Logistics established related logistics supporting services. Due to the high-quality logistics services of EXEL Logistics, Procter & Gamble issued it a certificate.

In 1994, the British government recognized EXEL Logistics as a model of "Best Environmental Practice" for its outstanding logistics service performance. EXEL LogIstics was approved to operate Procter & Gamble's cargo distribution center in Hong Kong. EXEL LogIstics Europe signed a logistics service contract with Dairy Crest

In 1995, EXEL Logistics plans to expand its business to Latin America, focusing first on Brazil and Argentina. With the development of Kellogg's Canada Inc. and Procter & Gamble's business in Canada, EXEL Logistics' new warehouses in Canada are also blooming. EXEL Logistics and Hoffmann-LaRoche signed a contract covering all European business. NFC acquired Cedes Logistica in Barcelona and also got the opportunity to serve SEAT and Nissan.

In 1996, after analyzing customer needs and investigating market conditions, EXEL LogiStics divided its business orientation into five parts: automotive industry, electronics industry, retail industry, consumer goods industry and petrochemical industry. EXEL Logistics provides Texaco with its logistics services in the UK.

In 1997, in order to support the expansion of Chrysler's business, EXEL Logistics extended its business to Moscow. EXEL Logistics moved SEAT/W's supplier public warehouse model from Spain to Moscow. This year marked the 15th anniversary of EXEL Logistics' cooperation with Ford. EXEL Logistics began to analyze and standardize business operation processes worldwide.

In 1998, EXEL Logistics built a global management information system to support communication and business progress among its companies around the world. In the partnership between EXEL Logistics and BMW Rover, EXEL Logistics established the most advanced integrated logistics center in Oxford at that time. This year marked the 50th anniversary of the cooperation between the two companies. EXEL Logistics began a partnership with Ford in Brazil. After that, EXEL Logistics began to provide home and office food distribution services for Marks & Spencer. EXEL Logistics acquired the logistics operation rights of Walsh Western Group in the UK and the Netherlands, which increased EXEL Logistics' share in the European electronics logistics service market. Subsequently, EXEL Logistics acquired Monros Logistica in Spain. EXEL Logistics formulated new standards based on its experience in logistics services in the automotive and retail industries. It began to manage the supply chain of large hospitals. In France, EXEL Logistic signed a logistics service cooperation contract with LaRedoute . EXEL LogIStics has established a global organization to provide international services across Europe, America and Asia Pacific to multinational companies.

In 1999, NPC sold its shares in Allied Pickfords moving service to focus on supply chain management. In accordance with EXEL Logistics' e-commerce logistics strategy, Merchants Home Delivery joined EXEL Logistics. EXEL Logistics reorganized its financial management organizational structure to adapt to the internationalization and global supply chain management of its customers. After global market research, EXEL Logistics positioned its service target as: international companies with supply chain management as their strategic goal.

On July 26, 2000, Ocean Group merged with NFC and changed its name to "Exel".

In December 2000, Exel acquired Total Logistics, a regional supply chain management company headquartered in Australia and New Zealand that specializes in providing supply chain management services to more than 30 large pharmaceutical and medical companies.

In October 2000, Exel and UPS jointly created a supply network for Ford and made large-scale changes to Ford's supply chain needs in Europe.

In January 2001, Exel was selected to manage the distribution of Motorola's semiconductor products in the United States, Europe and Asia.

In 2004, Exel plc acquired Tibbett & Britten, a leading UK contract logistics business, for $710 million.

On December 14, 2005, Deutsche Post announced the completion of its acquisition of Exel plc.

In January 2016, Exel (North America) was renamed DHL Supply Chain - North America. Deutsche Post continued to operate under the Exel brand name in North America, and the remaining business was merged with DHL Express to form DHDHL Supply Chain.

In 1984, "British Air Freight" began to conduct business through an agent (Sinotrans).

In 1992, we started to set up offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin and Shenzhen.

In 1996, Golden Eagle International Freight Forwarding Co., Ltd. was established with Sinotrans.

In 2003, EXEL China's headquarters moved to Shanghai
