Ranking of U.S. shopping app downloads in the first half of the year: Shein surpasses Amazon and ranks first!

It is learned that according to the latest report from mobile data platform Apptopia, in the first half of 2022, Shein successfully surpassed Amazon to become the most downloaded shopping application in the United States.

The report shows that in the first half of the year, Shein ranked first with 22.4 million downloads in the United States. Amazon followed closely with 22 million downloads. Walmart ranked third with 14 million downloads. The other top 10 are: Shop, Fetch Rwards, Klarna, Etsy, Offer Up, eBay and Nike.

While the gap between Shein and Amazon is small, this is explosive growth for a multinational company that was founded only 10 years ago, the report said.

It is learned that Shein mainly relies on these means to win the hearts of British consumers: thousands of new products are put on the shelves every day, and they are of good quality and low price; the fast fashion giant will automatically send users flash sales and coupon notifications to attract them to shop; it also cooperates with celebrities to launch co-branded clothing; Shein also offers discounts on its Instagram account, allowing users to go to the Shein application to shop through links.

It is worth noting that although the number of downloads exceeds that of Amazon, Shein's clothing revenue is still lower than that of Amazon. According to MarketWatch, in 2020, Amazon's clothing business revenue reached US$41 billion, surpassing retailers such as Target and Walmart to become the top online clothing retailer. In 2021, Shein's revenue was US$16 billion.

It is reported that as of now, Shein's valuation has reached US$100 billion, and the fast fashion giant hopes to conduct an initial public offering in the United States as early as 2024.
