If Twitter is removed from Google and Apple, Musk: Damn it, I will develop a Tesla phone!

It has been almost a month since Musk took over Twitter, and he has had to deal with a series of problems since the acquisition. Amid the talent loss crisis and million-dollar losses and drastic changes in the platform, the tycoon may also face a new problem: regulations from Google and Apple.

One of the reasons Musk decided to buy the social network was that he believed Twitter restricted free speech and fake accounts (or bots) made interaction increasingly difficult. That's why in recent weeks Musk has been working overtime with the development team to implement a new feature to distinguish between fake and real accounts.

Yoel Roth, former head of Twitter's trust and safety department, recently published an article in the New York Times describing how the new content guidelines on the platform violate the regulations of Google and Apple, saying that this situation would be "catastrophic." Roth admitted that Twitter is at risk of being removed from app stores such as the Play Store and AppStore.

There is no sign that the two tech giants, Google and Apple, will remove Twitter from their respective app stores. Roth said that even if it is removed by Apple and Google, Twitter can continue to serve users as an application in Amazon's store, and Amazon also has a great influence worldwide.

Additionally, since Twitter works in any browser, users do not have to download it to use the social media app, so iPhone and Android users can still access Twitter through their favorite browser.

What will Musk do if Twitter is blocked by Google and Apple?

After Twitter’s former head of trust and safety made the above assertion, TV commentator Liz Wheeler accurately posed the hypothetical case on Twitter.

Wheeler said that if Apple and Google remove Twitter from their app stores, Musk should produce his own smartphone. For him, building a rocket to Mars and developing a small smartphone should be a piece of cake.

Wheeler also launched a poll on Twitter, which had more than 120,000 votes after five hours, with 51.5% of users saying they would switch to a "tELONphone" to continue using Twitter.

Hours later, Musk responded to the hypothesis: "I certainly hope things don't come to that. But yes, I will make a replacement phone if there is no other choice."

Experts said that in any case, the possibility of seeing Tesla phones on the market is actually very small. Because the stock price of Musk's main asset Tesla has plummeted 54% so far this year. Obviously, Tesla shareholders don't want Musk to fleece Tesla again for Twitter. Some investors were even disappointed because Musk sold Tesla shares to buy Twitter, which led to a sharp drop in Tesla's stock price, and then gave up investing.
