CPSC urgently recalls 50,000 hair clippers due to fire and burn hazards

It is learned that the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recently announced the recall of Instinct Professional's cordless hair clippers due to the risk of fire and burns.

It is understood that the recalled products involve the StyleCraft Instinct cordless hair clipper model SC607M. The product comes in three colors: blue, red and black, with the letters "SC" and the name "INSTINCT" printed on the front. The model and batch number are printed on the back of the product, including the following batch numbers: 35-22, 40-22, 15-23, 20-23, 25-23, 30-23, 35-23 and 40-23.

Between January 2023 and May 2024, about 50,000 units of the product were sold on Amazon and in professional beauty supply stores in the United States for about $250. The CPSC said the product could cause a fire due to overheating of the lithium battery. So far, StyleCraft has received six reports of battery overheating or fire, including one minor burn.

CPSC said consumers should immediately stop using the recalled hair clippers and visit StyleCraft's official website to learn how to remove the battery and replace it for free. Consumers can go to a StyleCraft authorized service center or mail the product to StyleCraft via parcel. In addition, consumers should dispose of the battery according to local and state regulations.
