What is eBay? eBay Review

eBay is an online auction and shopping website that allows people around the world to buy and sell items online. Its predecessor was Auctionweb, which was founded by Pierre Omidyar on September 4, 1995. Its headquarters is located in San Jose, California, USA.



Development Status


eBay has 37 independent sites and portals around the world, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, France, and China. It covers more than 190 countries and regions, nearly 300 million users, and supports 23 languages ​​around the world.

How to register an eBay personal seller account


The first step is to log in to the eBay Hong Kong (China) site: www.ebay.com.hk and click Register on the page.


The second step is to jump to the registration information-personal account. After filling in the information, click [Register as a member] to complete the registration. Click [Continue] to enter the phone confirmation step.


The third step is to complete the registration information, enter the [PIN] code sent to your mobile phone, and click [Continue]. The registration is successful and the system will automatically jump to the homepage.

Step 4: Modify and complete account information


1. If you want to set personal account information, click [Account] - [Personal Account Information] to modify it.


2. If you want to modify the main contact address, you can also modify it through [Account] - [Address Information].


3. If you want to change your personal contact information, you can also make the corresponding changes


4. If you need to change your account, you need to go through the following path: ebay.com - [Account] - [Address] - [Registration address, email and phone number], click [change]


The page will jump to the modification page, click [Change your member account] to modify the account.

Merger and Acquisition Events


- In May 1999, eBay merged with online payment service company Billpoint. The company ceased operations after eBay acquired PayPal.


-In June 2002, eBay merged with PayPal for $1.5 billion in stock.


-On July 11, 2003, eBay merged with China's largest e-commerce company EachNet for RMB 150 million in cash and launched a joint auction website "eBay EachNet".


-On June 22, 2004, eBay acquired the Indian auction website Baazee for $50 million plus additional cash.


- In October 2005, eBay acquired Skype technology.


-In December 2006, eBay and TOM Online established a joint venture, TOM EachNet, with respective holdings of 49% and 51%.


-In April 2012, Eachnet is no longer a related website of eBay in China. Eachnet is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tom Group. All services provided by the Eachnet website are not affected.

- In February 2014, eBay, an international e-commerce company, announced the acquisition of PhiSix, a computer graphics company. PhiSix can create 3D models based on photos, graphic files and other sources, and simulate the effect of trying on clothes.
