Ozon is a Russian online retailer founded in 1998. Since its launch, it has always occupied the top position in Russia's B2C field. Its main business is the online sales of books, electronic products, music and movies, etc. It is often called the "Russian Amazon".

Ozon is the second largest e-commerce platform in Russia, ranking sixth on the Forbes list with a valuation of $680 million. Ozon has a big advantage among Russian shopping websites, that is, consumers have high trust in it. Compared with other platforms, the repurchase rate has always been high.


Ozon, Russia’s largest multi-category online retailer, reported strong results for the second quarter of 2018, with the company’s quarterly revenues up 86%, reaching a new high in the past decade, with sales reaching RUB 7.9 billion. By the end of June 2018, Ozon had delivered 6.2 million orders to customers, with a total capacity of 29 million products. Total GMV Ozon.ru and Ozon.travel amounted to RUB 32 billion.

Development History


-In 2000, Baring Vostok acquired a majority stake in Ozon and invested approximately $3 million in Ozon.

-In April 2007, Ozon raised $18 million in venture capital funding from Holtzbrinck Venture Partners, Index Ventures and Baring Vostok.


- In 2009, a 120,000 m2 warehouse was opened in the Tver region and mobile applications were launched.


- In September 2011, Ozon invested $100 million in its four main businesses: online retailer Ozon; shipping company O-courier; Ozon; and travel, shoes and accessories retailer Sapato.ru.


-In 2011, Ozon raised $100 million, which it will use for company development, including reshaping Russia's postal service.


In 2012, Ozon had 14.5 million registered users and $250 million in revenue, 750,000 daily viewers, 2.2 million SKUs, and employed 1,700 people.


In 2013, Ozon had 3 million products and revenue of $700 million.


-In 2014, 4,000 pick-up points were established in more than 100 cities in Russia, and the company has the largest warehouse in Eastern Europe.


-In May 2014, it received a second round of financing of US$150 million from Sistema and its mobile operator subsidiary MTS.


-In 2015, launched the SCAN IT shopping mobile app, which won the Runet Book Award.


-In 2016, warehouses in Yekaterinburg and Kashan District were officially put into operation.
