How to quickly check overseas patents for cross-border e-commerce

Regardless of which platform they operate on, what cross-border sellers fear most is being complained about for unintentional infringements, which results in points being deducted and affects the store’s weight.

Cross-border sellers often ask, my goods are factory goods, and I only have pictures provided by the factory. How can I know if there is any infringement?

The first choice for searching patents is the official website of intellectual property rights in each country, but currently only the official website of the European Union Intellectual Property Office can search through images.

Recently, a seller found a tool when selecting and expanding products. It can search for appearance patents of various countries through pictures. It is very convenient and easy to use. It can be completed in less than 1 minute.

This article is for sharing purposes only and does not endorse any tool or platform. If you have any questions, please contact the corresponding product manager.

First, upload the pictures that need to be tested to ERIC's website, and fill in the key information of the product in the title (if you don't know, you can write according to your own understanding). Here is an example of a toy product.

Set up the detection settings on the right, such as selecting the United States, and then click the Detect button;

On the detection result page, you can see that all appearance patents similar to the image have been detected;

Click on a single card to view the details of the design patent;

Click the Compare Original Image button to expand the uploaded image and visually compare the similarity between the uploaded image and the appearance patent;

You can also get different results by modifying keywords (such as electronic products, mobile phones, clothing, etc.).

Of course, if you need to search for patents more accurately, it is recommended to search through tools such as Google patent, SooPAT, etc.
